can: Pours dark brown almost black, with little head that settles into thin foam. Seems like a (weak) stout more than a brown ale. Taste is slightly sweet, malty, bitter chocolate & definite coffee. For the heavy body it is trying for, I’d prefer more robost flavours: I’m working at getting this down. This isn’t poor quality but not spectacular. I’d rather have a genuine brown ale or a stout with more body, not this "inbetween" beer. The longer it sits & warms, the more brown ale it becomes.

From the can. Malty and chocolate aromas with some roasted scents as well. Looks just like a stout, maybe not quite black though. Medium to high carbonation suprised me a little. Very bitter bakers chocolate flavor with lots of thick malt. Not bad.

Pours a dark brown/blood red, with a thin beige head. The aroma smells like burnt malts. But the flavor is certainly impressive, notes of licorice, caramel, dark chocolate, and a light smokeyness in the finish. Top notch flavor. The palat is a little thin and water due to low carbonation. But I still really like this beer, reminds me of St. Peters Cream Stout but not quit as well rounded and solid.

wow, when this is fresh its outsanding! nice hoppy aroma to it. flavour is caramel, hops, malt, and chocolate. very very well balanced, a great english hop progfile with just the right amount of malt backbone. When fresh an outstanding beer.

1 l bottle from the LCBO. Dark brown with a thick mocha head. Aroma is dark fruits, toffee, roasted malts, wood and smoke. Taste is more sweet than I thought, with toffee, tobacco, smoke, wood and dark fruits not a lot of bitterness. Medium palate. Pretty good.

Canette de 500 ml. Brune foncée, pas de collet. Légé arome de malte roti et de caramel un peu fumé. Goût de malte roti faible par contre, plutôt aquex et loin d’être riche.

Dark amber in colour, nice lacing head. Malty and smokey aroma. Flavour does not disappoint, toasty, a little chocolaty. Thick and nice. It’s no stout, but it’s close.
