spector (906), Lancaster, Ohio, USA Apr 17, 2007 Lots of malt and some slight chocolate stand out in the aroma.Pours dark brown with a medium off white head.Has a slight bitter coffee flavor.Very full mouthfeel with a roasted malt finish. moejuck (1165), Ohio, USA Apr 17, 2007 From the can. Malty and chocolate aromas with some roasted scents as well. Looks just like a stout, maybe not quite black though. Medium to high carbonation suprised me a little. Very bitter bakers chocolate flavor with lots of thick malt. Not bad. wilderthanyou (410), Guelph, Ontario, Canada Apr 2, 2007 Updated: Jun 1, 2007Pours a dark brown/blood red, with a thin beige head. The aroma smells like burnt malts. But the flavor is certainly impressive, notes of licorice, caramel, dark chocolate, and a light smokeyness in the finish. Top notch flavor. The palat is a little thin and water due to low carbonation. But I still really like this beer, reminds me of St. Peters Cream Stout but not quit as well rounded and solid. robinvboyer (1419), Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, Canada Mar 8, 2007 wow, when this is fresh its outsanding!
nice hoppy aroma to it. flavour is caramel, hops, malt, and chocolate. very very well balanced, a great english hop progfile with just the right amount of malt backbone. When fresh an outstanding beer. Diogène (543), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada Mar 6, 2007 Updated: May 10, 20091 l bottle from the LCBO. Dark brown with a thick mocha head. Aroma is dark fruits, toffee, roasted malts, wood and smoke. Taste is more sweet than I thought, with toffee, tobacco, smoke, wood and dark fruits not a lot of bitterness. Medium palate. Pretty good. Malty and smokey aroma. Flavour does not disappoint, toasty, a little chocolaty. Thick and nice. It’s no stout, but it’s close. mabel (2530), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Feb 11, 2007 [114-20061124] 1L. Light chocolate, malty coffee, light alcohol. Clear, dark dark brown red body with lots of tiny bubbles on the outer edges and a small, light brown creamy head. Chocolate and coffee background, flavour is mainly malty. Medium body, slightly dry. Nice malty togetherness, maybe a bit watery.
