Ungstrup (14754), Frederiksberg, Denmark Apr 6, 2008 Canned at RBESG 2007. An amber beer with a thin tan head. The aroma is sweet with notes of malt and bread as well as a light note of caramel. The flavor is weet with notes of straw and malt as well as a light note of straw, leading to a dry bitter and strawy finish. The body is thin. omhper (12155), Stockholm, Sweden Aug 31, 2007 Canned at RBESG ’07. Dark brown. Sweet and fruity with medium body and rounded mouthfeel. Roasty malt gives me coffee and butter, there’s notes of apples before a carefully bitter finish. Quite good! Oakes (8057), gone rambling, Vietnam Apr 7, 2005 Amber-brown colour. Slightly toasty aroma. Flavour is toasty, chocolatey. It’s a little thin but tastes fine enough. harrisoni (6703), Ashford, Kent, England Aug 31, 2007 Can at RBESG 2007. Some good toffee on this, it was fine. Thanks to the two Canadians who brought this across. MesandSim (5790), London, Greater London, England Aug 28, 2007 A Mes rate:
Bottle at RBESG. Had a bit of a beer spillage on this page of my note book so can only make out the words brown, aroma, chocolate and innoffensive (I think). Erm... yeah, that’s my rate. hopdog (5527), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 29, 2006 Can acquired in trade with blankboy (thanks!). This one was a gusher - all over my kitchen counter (thankfully I didn’t open up at my desk). Settled into a deeper brown color. Aromas of brown sugar, caramel, and light toasted malts. I was also getting maple syrup (could be that whole Canadian mental thing going on). Tastes of brown sugar, light chocolate, caramel, and light roast. Definitely on the sugary sweet side in both the aromas and tastes. Thinner body. bu11zeye (5430), Frisco, Texas, USA Aug 20, 2007 (Can) Pours a dark burgundy body with a small off-white head. Aroma of licorice, roastiness, nuts, and toasted marshmallow. Flavor of roasted malt, fennel, and cocoa. Magicdave6 (5400), London, Greater London, England Aug 28, 2007 Canned thansk to Dan, rbesg07. Really decent canned brown ale that i thought was a shwartzbier, chocolate malt and grassy hops balancing, very drinkable.
