Magtek32 (76), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Apr 26, 2007 473ml can. Pours a very dark brown with very little head. Malt and chocolate dominate the aroma but there are hints of roasty coffee and caramel as well. The taste is nice and bitter, again with plenty of roasty malt, chocolate and coffee flavour. i expected it to have a little more body, its kind of on the thin side, but all in all its not a bad beer.
Beershine (1440), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Sep 19, 2008 Brown red tinted with medium tan creamy-looking head. Sweet malty aroma, kinderbier, dry fruitiness. Thin but soft palate, lacks substantiality. Would be nicer if bigger bodied. But nice flavors, dry, simple, straightforward, malty without being sweet. Decent. KyotoLefty (196), Kyoto, Japan Sep 1, 2008 Dark brown color with a low tan head. Rich, sweet, malty and fruity aroma. toffee, a bit of coffee. Sweet dark malt flavor, with molasses and caramel, some fruit, and little hops. Very pleasant and mild, with complex malts, fruit. Full-bodied. chops (28), Brantford, Ontario, Canada Aug 7, 2008 473 ml can fromt the LCBO. Dark, lots of enjoyable flavors. One of my favorite local beers. I will definetly buy this again. Trev (540), Lakeville, Minnesota, USA Aug 5, 2008 Pours a nice ruby brown with a quickly bubbly head.
Aroma is dark roast, chocolate, nutty and some molasses. A little raisin and brandy type sweet alc tones as well.
Flavour was surprisingly pleasant. Nutty medium roast malt flavour, some weak coffee tones, light burnt bitterness.
Overall very drinkable, smooth yet enough flavour to justify buying. DuffMan (1961), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Jul 2, 2008 Dark brown, clear, moderate head. Toasty, slightly burnt malt aroma. Flavours of darkly roasted malts, chocolate. Comes across as more of a schwarz style.
