25/VII/13 - 33cl can @ my parents’ place - BB: 27/V/14 (2013-666) Thanks to my dad for splitting this, would’ve been a waste if I opened one just for myself ;-)

Little cloudy orange to pale beige beer, small fizzy white head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: typical Hoegaarden smell, lots of coriander, wheat touch, grains, bit of citrus peel, some oranges. MF: soft carbon, light body. Taste: sweet sugary start, bit of grains, sourish, lemony touch, slightly bitter. Aftertaste: lots of coriander, spicy, still sugary, lemony touch.

Can from Carrefour. Hazy grapefruit body with medium head. Nose is sweet, citrus, lemon notes. Taste is slightly malty, fruits, citrus. Quite nice actually but it doesn’t taste like beer at all, more like a smooth juice soda. I know it doesn’t have any alcohol but it doesn’t even taste like it wants to pretend.

Bottle of 300 ml @ home. The bottle has a yellowish label, so I thought at first that it was an alcohol free version of the Hoegaarden Citron. Anyway. Poured into a weizen glass. Colour is lile the original’s Hoegaarden, camomile like, only less hazy and actually semi-transparent. Head is creamy with a white colour, two fingers in height, very quickly becoming just half a finger. There, it stays for quite long. Activity in the glass is a average. Aroma is quite similar to the original Goegaarden, with citrus fruits, only much stronger lemon aroma, and sort of artificial too. Taste is mostly of lemons and a corn syrup aftertaste left behind. Not so strong as with other alcohol free beers though and at least it doesn’t linger that long in your mouth. Thin on the body as expected and light carbonation. Overall a nice alcohol free beer, for those times you’re not allowed to have a normal beer.

Can. A hazy, yellow-orange beer topped by a small, dense, white head. Rather lemony nose, almost like a radler, leaving little room for coriander, wheat and orange peel. In the flavor the lemon is weaker, but still overpowering the other flavors one expect from a Hoegaarden. Medium body, quite dry. Quite drinkable, but it’s not much beer flavor or aroma going on. 120818
