Fruity and coriander nose. Taste is halfway between a typical Strong Belgian (Chouffe, etc.) and a Hoegaarden White. Very yeasty, fruity notes, grassy. Probably use the same hops as the White, same dry flower finish with a mild bitterness reminding me of german-pilsners. Refreshing but strong. First time ever I had that beer. I really like the classic Hoegaarden White but I never went out of my way to have a Hoegaarden Grand Cru. I don’t know, I wouldn’t be tempted by a Guiness Special Edition or a Pilsner Urquell Grande Reserve either. My bad because the Hoegaarden Grand Cru is an excellent beer. Aroma is good with yeast, spices, fruits and obvious orange with mild alcohol. Flavor has more obvious alcohol, still not too much. Also some vinous tones, spices, yeast and fruits can be found. Medium to full bodied, crispy palated brew. This gets my best points for this brewery. jacobwennbom (275), Uppsala, Sweden
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 16, 2006 Hazy yellow with large white foam. Aroma is yeasty with notes of lemon and orange. Taste is lemony and suprisingly fresh and clear. One might even say clean. Carbonation is quite perfect for this kind of beer. Not as strong as other wheats sometimes are. Great with a piece of white chocolate! thewolf (5842), Kolding, Denmark

Wheaty aroma with flowery tones. Quite full bodied from the wheat and the high alcohol. Not vinious but warming. Taste is sweet with very wheaty tones. jimthechap (174), Christchurch, New Zealand

Not the kind of beer to be drunk in that season but eminently drinkable all the same. Roll on summer to match the aromatic flowery wheat malt nose and fluffy fresh head of this classic Belgian wheat beer. cab (863), Denmark

Poured with a nice fluffy white head and suitably golden and cloudy in the glass. Looked good enough to drink! Aroma not as strong as I expected, but usual Hoegaarden stuff. Pretty easy on the palate with a little lingering bitterness in the finish but nothing amazingly complex. Overall enjoyable, but doesn’t leave me screaming for more.
