Bottle. A full fruity aroma - primarily banana. Medium yellow color - cloudy. Flavor of wheat and banana esters - like a geared up version of their witbier or a Hefeweizen. Very nice.

Poured a hazy orange color with a small, white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of orange spice, yeast, and cardamom. Taste of tart citrus, dry and yeasty, light alcohol in the finish.

yalnikim (800) - Wellington, NEW ZEALAND - APR 4, 2005
Tasted 30/03/2005. 330ml bottle from Leuven, Wellington. Extra cold bottle from a "specialist" belgian bar leaves a little to be desired. Murky orange gold with a thick pure white head that fades to a strong lacing. Peach and nectarine dominate the nose up front and later, as it warms, a strong alcohol aroma tending to ethanol. flavour is oranges and a touch of bubblegum with a little sour yoghurt from the yeast. Some pepper. Palate is pithy with a touch of anise. Could be so much better if I tried this one in the comfort of my own home.

Hazy golden colour with a white head. Sweet aroma dominated by yeast and spices with notes of fruit. Flavour of dried fruit, yeast and spices. Bitter finish. Well hidden alcohol.

UPDATED: MAY 2, 2007 Pours cloudy orange/yellow with a whitish head that dissapeared a bit too quick. Nice fruity (banana & peach) and sweet wheat aroma but still with a bitterness and warm alcohol notes. Quite full flavored. Dry finish.

MoritzF (8676) - Bochum, GERMANY - MAR 18, 2005
(bottle) Hazy orange colour with lasting frothy head. Yeasty nose with a hint of orange/fruity notes. Spicy, medium carbonated start with complex aromas in the aftertaste. Less alcoholic than I expected. Interesting but not for everyday use.

Doppelganger (1388) - Dry County, Arkansas, USA - MAR 15, 2005
Pours cloudy pale peach with a big pillow of creamy white head that settles with some nice lacing. Very spicy and bright aroma, with cinnamon, musky cedar, clove, lemon, sort of a green-dandelion aroma, and a touch of bready-yeast. Mild yeasty bite up front , with tangy-citrus quality and soft malt. Quite light and refreshing for a beer this strong, while still maintaining a feeling of substance. Remarkably clean, dry finish. None of the rusty nail aftertaste I sometimes associate with this style. A very tasty Belgian Strong. Thanks AlaskanWarren for the bottle!

Bottle, Lokkedize, Brugge, Belgium. Appearance: Honey, cloudy, white head with tiny bubbles. Laces the glass thickly. Aroma: fruity, slightly bitter, wooden. Flavor: Sweet, tangy, belgian, fruity, melon. Palate: Full-bodies, great mouthfeel. Sweet but a clearing bitterness. Not quite what I expected from this beer, but that’s not bad. I expected something heavier, but with a grand cru, you never know.
