Gouden bier met mooie witte schuimkraag. Kruidig in de neus met citrus- en tarwetoets. Mondgevoel is medium met merkbare alcohol. Tarwe- en citrussmaak. Fruitige afdronk met licht bitter einde.

Colour: pale gold. Firm white head. Nose: grass, herbs, citrus, lemon, wheat. Hints of dough and hay. Flavours: biscuit like grain, more citrus. Vanilla and syrup. Alcohol is noticeable. Finish: long, grainy, fruity and slightly bitter. Verdict: well made beer, but it reminds me a little of Karmeliet and you shouldn’t compare. But it’s no alternative.

Robe orangée, légèrement opaque. Le goût de la levure est omniprésent. On devine un arrière goût pêche. Bière très douce, mais pas excessivement. La texture est plutôt liquoreuse. Assez longue en bouche. Une bonne ale non filtrée.

Mooie schuimkraag die redelijk dicht is. Zoet citrus(geuren) aroma. Mooie troebele goudkleur. Licht romig kruidig van smaak die mooi in balans is met de carbonatiehinten van citrus banaan. Heerlijk zacht drinkbaar. Karmeliet achtig.

Bottle. Pours hazy amber with airy but stable off-white head. Clear aroma of malt, fruit and flowers, with notes of hops. Sweetish flavour of fruit, malt and yeast, with refreshing citric and hoppy notes. Bitter and estery aftertaste. Medium to rich body. Well balanced and enjoyable. Decent.

Bottle, 33cL. Home. A yellow orange opaque beer with a medium creamy white head. Medium retention. Aroma of biscuit, fruit (citrus), alcohol, spices (coriander). Medium sweet and dry refreshing bitter. Medium body, nearly silky texture, fizzy carbonation, bitter finish with a warming note. Overall, a good refreshing beer wich becomes warming without being oily. "The bird spreads its wings."

UPDATED: DEC 2, 2014 330ml bottle served in own tulip glass Xmas with friends in Belgium and the opportunity to enjoy some beers that "I’ve left behind" back to the years when I use to live in the beautiful and pleasant country ;) A: Pours a totally hazy yellow to white color with a nice medium white creamy aired head. Medium to low retention but, it never disappears totally. Leaves some few lacings around S: Smell is a delicious bouquet! Quite strong on herbs and spices (coriander and cinnamon, mainly), orange zest, vanilla. The Belgium yeasts are damn good on the nose! Also the sweet grains and the flowery hops in the end T: Complex as the smell. Again very spicy, with the strong notes of coriander and orange zest. Also vanilla, yeasts, sweet grains and flowery hops. A bit sweet and some notes of alcohol can be felt in the end M: Heavy creamy body with medium carbonation. Perfect and balanced. Dangerously drinkable considering its 8.7% ABV O: Reality is that, this is a stronger (or "improved") version of the classic Hoegaarden. In USA, we would call it a "Imperial Witbier", or perhaps a "Double Witbier" ;). In any case, a brilliant result... [ BA Review @ 12/25/2011 ]
