came across this beer after searching for unrated beers, one of my first beers i had back in the day. still reminds me of a spiced beer of the coriander and orangepeel, combined with malts fruits, and overripe fruits

Thx! to Kraddel for the bottle. 25 cl. bottle @ home. BBF 21/03/2009 so 2007 Vintage? The last year of production? I have no idea as to when this was discontinued. This is definitely a beer that I never expected to get to try. Hougaerdse Das is a beer that has a long and illustrious history which probably has no relation with the contents inside the bottle since this stuff was made by InBev). Murky fox amber orange with only some white bubbles for a head. Nose is huge oxidation, candy sugar, big oxidation sweetness, musty cellar, spices, raw, slightly soured dough,… Taste is watery mixed with candy sugar, Madeira / wine big oxidation notes, bitter spices, raw sour dough, coriander, musty cellar notes, big old cellar and mineral finish, sparkling mineral water, old rotting lemons & apricots. Watery body. The thing with this beer is that by this point the huge oxidation notes have taken over most of this beer so it is getting hard to tell what this beer even used to be like. On the other hand this is probably more interesting to drink now than it was previously.

white head with big bubbles disappears immediately. blonde clear colour. almost no aroma, a whim of marzipan, malt. taste is sweet, malt. no aftertaste. very watery thin mouthfeel, weak carbonation. not a provision beer ofcourse. bottle 33 cl @ antwaerps bierhuyske / bbf 2009 thanks @kraddel though for the generous offer ;)

Sorry for the german rating, but this is a lousy rating from my "newbie" time (2007-2009), and it’s not worth of being translated. I just added it for the statistics, and to complete my backlog!

UPDATED: MAR 6, 2012 Bottle in Antwerpen, Belgium. Light orange hazy colour with a beige head. Complex aroma, spicy and fruity. Malty and spicy fresh flavour with some coriander.

Countbeer (4072) - Best of E-Town mit ein Brauhaus, NETHERLANDS - AUG 6, 2011
Bottle: Light brown to off white head on top of a light cloudy darker orange colored beer. Smell light toasted malts, caramel, toffee, dough, spices, some hints of fruit and herbs. Taste is an ok mix of toasted malts, caramel, darker fruits, spices/herbs, yeast, some sweets but a bit more bitter. Low carbo, soft mouthfeel, medium body and a watery texture.

Not one of the best from hoegaarden. Coriander orange peel and yeast is a combination that doesn’t work for me I guess.

I really don’t like this beer. Guess the coriander is to blame mostly. Very herby beer, not my thing.
