Bottles at home. I liked it at the first time but when I drank a bottle for the last time I thought: "It isn’t that good at all." Orange/amber color, strange malty flavor. I should try it again. Maybe I’ll like it more than the last time. In that case, I shall update my rating.

Amber ale in the Hoegaarden range, commemorating a long-gone local beer and spiced in the same way as a witbier. Tasted years ago so from old notes: orangey blonde colour, thin, off-white head, caramelly flavour with some dried fruits and nuts, iron, coriander and dried orange peel, thin body and not much of a finish. Simply malty thirst-quencher but better than average - for an AB InBev beer, that is.

Amber colour, white foam. Medium carbonation. Aroma of caramel and sweet fruit. Also coriander and citrus. Rather dry bitter finish. Ok.

came across this beer after searching for unrated beers, one of my first beers i had back in the day. still reminds me of a spiced beer of the coriander and orangepeel, combined with malts fruits, and overripe fruits

Thx! to Kraddel for the bottle. 25 cl. bottle @ home. BBF 21/03/2009 so 2007 Vintage? The last year of production? I have no idea as to when this was discontinued. This is definitely a beer that I never expected to get to try. Hougaerdse Das is a beer that has a long and illustrious history which probably has no relation with the contents inside the bottle since this stuff was made by InBev). Murky fox amber orange with only some white bubbles for a head. Nose is huge oxidation, candy sugar, big oxidation sweetness, musty cellar, spices, raw, slightly soured dough,… Taste is watery mixed with candy sugar, Madeira / wine big oxidation notes, bitter spices, raw sour dough, coriander, musty cellar notes, big old cellar and mineral finish, sparkling mineral water, old rotting lemons & apricots. Watery body. The thing with this beer is that by this point the huge oxidation notes have taken over most of this beer so it is getting hard to tell what this beer even used to be like. On the other hand this is probably more interesting to drink now than it was previously.

Sorry for the german rating, but this is a lousy rating from my "newbie" time (2007-2009), and it’s not worth of being translated. I just added it for the statistics, and to complete my backlog!

Bottle: Light brown to off white head on top of a light cloudy darker orange colored beer. Smell light toasted malts, caramel, toffee, dough, spices, some hints of fruit and herbs. Taste is an ok mix of toasted malts, caramel, darker fruits, spices/herbs, yeast, some sweets but a bit more bitter. Low carbo, soft mouthfeel, medium body and a watery texture.
