Hazy golden yellow with a nice fluffy white head. Aroma is subtle and a bit muted with a touch of fruit. Thicker and more alcoholic than the wit. Sweetly alcoholic with a tripel like undercurrent. Big initial aftertaste with some alcohol in the finish lingers. Thanks Doug.

Bottle: Medium pretty vast sticky white to off white head on top of a hazy yellow orange colored beer. Smell lot of fruits, with hops, herbs and yeast. Hint of malts and wheat ish stuff. Taste is a mix of hops, hops fruits, herbs, yeast, yeast fruits, grains, malts, barleys, wheat, alcohol, spices and sweets Aftertaste is a mix of yeasty sweet fruit notes, with alcohol, some herbs and some malty bitterness. Low to medium carbo, soft tingly mouthfeel, medium to fuller body and a light creamy texture. Absolutely not a bad beer.

Old bottle. Seriously old. BB ’91. Shared with a friend who is fan of Hoegaarden and had all their beers before, except Julius.
Slightly hazy amber colour, white, dissipating head. Aroma of madeira, light herbal and spicy. Malty, light sweet flavour. Light spicy. Finish quite sweet and herbal, thyme. Nice, despite it’s great age.

Someone told me they don’t make this anymore... a saddening thought. The blend of spices used isn’t exactly awesome... but it’s fun to try.

A Mes rate. Bottle thanks to The Cad.
Seriously old sample. Murky gold, just about holding onto a thin white film. Milky and fruity. Lots of caramel and some notes of alcohol. Mainly old and cardboardy. Nice to try another bottle. Shame it’s struggling.

Bottle. Vintage (unknown how old). Pours a pale light (golden) brown. No head. Sweet, oxydised malt aroma. Same flavour, but with notes of syrup as well. Dusty finish. Hasn’t aged too well. Still, not a drain pour. 26-09-09.

Bottle. [thank you, dedollewaitor]
[probably vintage 1993, BBF 17/08/98]
Pours muddy orange with a very fine, creamy, off-white head. Aroma has heavy oranges, pineapple, bready malts and some cellar notes. Medium carbonation, lovely oily mouthfeel. Flavour is very nice. Quite sweet, some rye bread, pineapple, oranges. Nice, elegant spiciness. Pepper, cloves and a fine, sweetish green apple finish. Really nice.

Thanks Jason for sharing the best by 10/18/2006 vintage bottle. The beer pours to a pale golden body with a rich creamy white head and lively appearance. The aroma has some hay and banana yeasts with light cloves. Reminds me of Scaldis. The flavor is candied pineapples, sweet clean barley, yeasts, and nicely balanced flavors. Very masterfully done. Why’d they stop making this? Clean lighter palate that has a beautiful texture. Clean, vibrant, and nicely balanced carbonation.
