davegore (200), liverpool, Merseyside, England Mar 17, 2009 Pours like a foggy night with a simple white head, slight aroma of oranges but after a few sips this was one beer I decided I didn’t want to continue on with, not nice Cletus (5002), Connecticut, USA Mar 10, 2009 Pours amber with a white head. Smells of honey, oranges, sweet malt. Tastes of caramel with some light spicy hints. Good, but I like regular Hoegaarden much more. hallinghansen (263), Odense SV, Denmark Mar 2, 2009 25 cl. bottle. Hazy yellow body, with a medium white head. Aroma is citrus and fruit. Flavor is fresh, with citrus and fruit. A refreshment. screwball (796), Motala, Sweden Feb 14, 2009 Bottle. Big tanks to Peter in Belgium!
Pours nice hazy golden. Head is first big and creamy but then goes smaller.
I can´t really say what makes this different from the original...
The Speciale is fresh. Has vanilla, citrus, banana and crispy hops both in aroma and flavor.
WeeHeavySD (2942), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Jan 25, 2009 25cl bottle, bonus from belgianbeergal. Pours orange with a tan head. Nose is sweet and slihtly spiced. Taste is light and bubbly with a good hit of spice. Pretty decent wit. Fin (3382), Merton, Oxfordshire, England Jan 17, 2009 Bottle no idea where I got this from? Consumed 17-01-09. Pours yeller’ with a white head. This surprised me by lacking the improvement over the standard version that I expected. Along with the usual cloves and banana I found that this was quite top heavy with a cornflakey taste, admittedly there was some biscuit and malt, overall I wasn’t overly fussed. A6 A3 F6 P3 OV10 2.8 DBL (1), , Belgium does not count Dec 10, 2008 Warm yellow and cloudy color, makes a nice head, dry and spicy, the palate is very good and this is a refreshing beer DruncanVeasey (2695), The Penguin’s Arms, Europe, Warwickshire, England Nov 27, 2008 Dirty orange amber. Ahhh. That signature waft of narcotic soft clovey spice, banana and citrus, reinforced by caramel and toffee apple . Banana, pepper, Flying Saucers, Hefe-like wheaty biscuit, woodsy spice. Hint of bitterness beyond that of standard Hoey. Chai-like clovey afters again. Warming wintery spice with banana and toffee apple maltiness. Soft an silky. Pretty sexy Wit, with a dash of spoiling paperiness. Clings to the palate with warming, almost mulled spice. Nice.
