330ml bottle. Looks a treat, copper body dense with sediment with at creamy offwhite head. Rich sweet aroma, sour cherries, blackberries and prunes, some bready malt and alcohol slipping through. Syrup-like body, reasonably low carbonation with a creaminess to it, carrying the alcohol quite well. Rich caramel malts supporting a particularly fruit driven body; blackberries and dark cherries, prune, clove and pepper towards a dry, reasonably bitter finish. Complex and rich, certainly benefits from warmer drinking temperatures too.

Medium brown with a fluffy head, with a lot of murkiness and protein chunks in the bottom. Sweet nose, with an alfalfa hay aroma. Cold, a bit medicinal, but as it warms it takes on a nice berry flavor.

Bottle (330ml). Bottle exploded somewhat upon opening. Poured a deep, muddy burgundy with small chunks of sediment and a good size, dense, foamy off-white head which lasted very well. Aroma was of sweet toffee malts with black berries, dark grapes, coriander and some peppery alcoholic notes. Flavor was of sweet toffee malts with a light slightly tart bitterness; coriander, white pepper, touch of alcohol, some blackberries, a hint of cinnamon and a slightly warming finish. Medium to full bodied with medium carbonation, a syrupy texture, oil/dry mouthfeel and a good finish.

Bottle. Dark amber colour with an off-white head. Aroma is very fruity - sweet ripe fruits together with some yeast and spices. Flavour is sweet, quite yeasty and very fruity. Ripe sweet (and just a little tart) fruits and a hint of caramel.

Bottle, 33cl. Poured into trappist glass. Appears rusty brown and has lots of black floaters. Nose are typical hoegaarden spices. Total lack of aroma’s ?? Medium carbonation. Bitter & metallic aftertaste. Alcohol well hidden, but quite drinkable.
