COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Verboden Vrucht (Forbidden Fruit) is one of a kind. It is traditionally brewed with a mysterious blend of dark malts and flavored with spices. It underwent a slow second fermentation in the bottle so it matures into a delicious tasting beer with a complex flavor and a wonderful flavor balance between sweet and dry. Keep up this beer in a dark place and pour it at 5-6°C. Flavored with spices.

Pours an opaque red brown. Smells of malt, spices, only slightly fruity. Tastes very spicy, the coriander is quite overwhelming, the oranges seem to be an afterthought. It’s dry and slightly sour, and leaves a spicy, dry aftertaste. Not too bad for an 8.5%, but I expected better.

It pours clear and sparkling with a dark amber to brown colour. The head is off-white, large and foamy and lasts long. It smells of fruits, especially apple; the aroma consists of moderate malts, apple, raisin, some licorice, herbs and caramel. The taste balances delicately between medium sweet and light bitter. It has a creamy body, long aftertaste, and a slight dry finish. Probably not to everyone’s taste, but recommendable.

This one poured a nice dark Amber colour with a light tan coloured, creamy head. Scents include wieners/yeast, ripe fruit and spice. First swig was quite nice with citrus hop flavour, candy and a little yeast. A little bitter on the finish with fruit flavours lingering.

300ml bottle. Hazy dark amber colour. Very long lasting light brown head. Fruity with hints of orange and spicy aroma. Taste was also fruity and spicy, with caramel malt and wheat. Sweet smooth finish. Good stuff. March 2015.
