Cloudy particles and sparkling taste. Malt colour. Little salt aroma and an average duration.

Bottle. Poured a browny black colour with a thick creamy head that stayed. Clean, crisp notes with a liittle burnt moccha at the back with some cloves. Palate was a little sweet, but some nice bitterness and a little spice balanced this. A good, full beer which (though a little carbonated) was a filling and enjoyable beer.

This beer is beautiful--from the artwork on the label to the copper color to the unexpectedly ’fruity’ undertones. A classic.

Bottle: Cloudy caramel, fairly dark, beige head, large and frothy, attractive lacing, lively carbonation.   Sweet musty aroma, slightly spicy on the citrus side.   Pale fruit, sweet, subtle citrus, mildly bready on the tongue.   Decent body, somewhat airy mouthfeel.   Apple/Pear skin at the finish, slightly dry artificial like sweetness lingers.   Not bad!   Thanks Lars!

Verboden Vrucht... Poured a cloudy red color with a thin, off white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of spicy cloves, vinous, and earthy yeast as well. Sweet, light mint, dried fruits, yeast, and a touch of alcohol in the taste.

From bottle. Pours cloudy (due to yeast) deep amber with a good white bubbly head which was not retained particularly well but left some lacing. Aroma is wonderful; complex, estery and sweet. However the taste is dominated by alcohol with a mildly bitter finish, and to my taste unbalanced. Not bad, but there are a lot better of this style around.

Opaque and amber brown, with an enjoyable clingy, bubbly head. Very yeasty aroma, with spices that could range from cardamon to orange zest, with alcoholic overtones. The taste is pretty much spot on from the smell, with lively carbonation. Boozey, but I wouldn’t have given 9% to this one on a blind tasting.
