Taste was below expectations with some esters. Too sweet without enough fruit flavors. More like a soda water consistency instead. Too bad. MoritzF (4946), Bochum, Germany
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Mar 20, 2005 (bottle) Hazy red coloured with cloudy big head. Fruity nose with a light smell of apricots. Light malty flavour with fruity aromas. The alcohol is well embedded and not disturbing. Nice beer. Davolina (19), Frederiksberg C, Denmark

Nice, exciting flavour, that hides the alcohol quite well, very well balanced and aromatic, definetly a must try for a beer freak! The highlight of every Hoegaarden beer for me is always the first sip which really strikes the palate and such is the case here, however the forbidden fruit seems to carry itself a little better than say the white. This beer is a must try. ToolHead (235), Frederiksberg, Denmark

Quite a bit of bite and some residual sweetness in the finish. Highly recommended. aspidites (1274), manteca, California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 4, 2005 Nice malt and brandyish nose. with hints of dark fruit and spice and a nice orange zest and slight grass nose. Stew41 (1052), Caulfield, Australia
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 2, 2005 Dark, burnt orange tending to light tan in the glass. Fizzy, hazy look. Nice nose of medium weight; dark toffee notes, almost a little cloudy. Suprisingly elegant in the front and mid palate, more dark malty notes, a touch of chocolate. Finishes firm with a sugary bitterness (makes sense?) that gives the beer a slightly disjointed feel.
