Cloudy dark brown w/ large beige head. Sweet malt aroma that is also slightly fruity & yeasty. Feel starts of light then thickens. Light, sweet fruity (orange, cherry) flavours at first giving way to a very pronounced dry, spicy, alcohol laden finish.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Soft bready and fruit odors immediately after opening. More sour hints in the glass.
Thin but constant off white head on the reddish brown cloudy liquid. Caramel is subtle but apparent. Packs a nice punch at 9% with no harshness. Not too sweet or too bitter, I would like a little more substance, but still well balanced. I think this would be a great beer to break in the Belgian beer beginner, and I doubt I would readily turn one down.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Darker than I expected, reddish, with dense foaminess (could have been a little more enduring). Vinuous fruity aroma, strong alcohol evidence and peppery spice. Malty, craemy, with sweet fruit flavors, almost peachy, countered well by a good spice and warming alcohol finish. Well balanced sweetness in the aftertaste. Hearty alcohol content, but drinks pretty easily.

Bottle conditioned. Chestnut red-brown with good lacy head and moderate condition. Aromas of bread, yeast and fruit, some coconut hints along with the flavour of plums and an alcoholic peppery dry finish.

Beer Market, OCT 02.
Doug presented me with this great classic Belgian ale. Orange tea look that contrasted greatly with neat head. Aroma of forbidden fruit. Pffff, great intensity, some tartness, fruit, spice. Very complex. Very good aftertaste.
