Decent witbier, but a bit bland - the normal Hoegaarden is a more balanced; this one is dominated by alcohol taste-wise.

Dark brown beer with reddich accent and ivory colored head. It has rich aroma’s of fine roasted malts, candy sugar,Curaçao orangepeal fine spices and coriander. This beer has a intens flavor and a good round body.In the end there is a fine bitterness of the roaested malts that goes well with the richness of the dried fruit accent.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Served at room temperature. A tasty Belgian strong, that is full bodied for its relitavely modest alcohol contents. Slightly spicy.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: DEC 17, 2006 (Bottled) Hazy, dark amber with a small head and some lace. Very plummy-raisiny-banana-fruity and quite wheaty-malty, slightly yeasty aroma - like a strong, sourish, German Dunkelweizen. Sweetish, slightly sour, grainy-malty flavor with wheat, dried fruit, berries (raspberry, strawberry), and a lemony twist. Some bitter hops in the finish. Warming, medium-bodied, sahti-rough, a bit foamy-carbonated palate. ABV is well hidden. Balanced, but quite straightforward. A basic Belgian strong without many faults. Actually better when cold (as suggested by the label).

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
As DougShoemaker commented when I ordered this one, it should definitely not be forbidden. A nice dark reddish amber body with Sweet fruity malt present in both the aroma and flavour. Interesting finish and pleasant mouthfeel. I really enjoyed this one and may give it another go at some point as my palate my not have picked up all the complexities this far into the evening.

Nice, lacks some creaminess in palate. No bitterness in the aftertaste, only an alcohol warmth with the carbonation tingle. I've heard of people warming beers with a poker in winter, if I ever try that this might be the one, I suspect it is light enough to be quite warm without overpowering and has the sweetness to caramelise from the poker, If I had a fire I'd try it now in fact.
