2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. This beer states that it is the original forbidden fruit. Pours to a hazy dark appearance with a medium head which quickly disappears. Quite spritzy and some spicy notes but distinctly mediocre.

2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle. The colour is brown with a tint of red; the liquid is cloudy. The finger-thick head is quite compact and beige.
The smell is rather weak with some alcohol, yeast and that sour wheat-beer touch.
The carbonation is really strong with small bubbles that build lots of foam in the mouth.
The taste is fruity with a quite weak body, the bitterness is potent but there are also some funny metallic flavours. The aftertaste is sourish – bitter with a salt touch of broth.
To be frank, this beer was a disappointment to me; it turned out to be just an almost average Belgian dark strong ale.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
After all that buildup, and hearing it could not be found in the States, I finally tried it in Hackney, London. And my opinion? Meh. Not as fruity, nor as rich and complex as I’d hoped. Kind of a mediocre Belgian Ale, I’d say- kind of on par with a Maredsous.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
This dark amber beer pours with a modest tan head, eliciting a light fruity aroma. The malty flavor is enhanced with several spices, most noteably coriander. A good brew.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Slightly too acidic for my palate, full flavoured ale, with a very rich bouqet, i smelt a little nutmeg mixed in with some burnt 30 year old adours. Nice and tangy with a full body of ripe overtones, i tasted some lemony undertones, and a bit of burnt grass too (wink wink choke hold) a fairy good beer from a highly acclaimed stable of beers.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Red color steals. Adherent foam and of good persistence. Much balanced and with one sturdy structure.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
A deep red-amber color with a light- tan head. Fruity, malt aroma. Barely perceivable bitterness. A bit of warmth from the alcohol. Lots of complex fruit flavors. Medium bodied. Overall a good beer.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
A hazy dark amber beer with a huge light brown head. The aroma is very sweet with notes of coriander and oranges. The flavor is also extremely sweet, almost cloying, with notes of oranges and peach, the end is quite dry and spicy. The mouthfeel is thin, but the alcohol burns slightly in the throat.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: JAN 1, 2006 Deep dark orange with a fluffy off white head. Aroma is sweet, alcoholic and very fruity (duh what’s it called) with a nice dried fruit taste and a toffee-ish finish.
