COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Verboden Vrucht (Forbidden Fruit) is one of a kind. It is traditionally brewed with a mysterious blend of dark malts and flavored with spices. It underwent a slow second fermentation in the bottle so it matures into a delicious tasting beer with a complex flavor and a wonderful flavor balance between sweet and dry. Keep up this beer in a dark place and pour it at 5-6°C. Flavored with spices.

Bottle. Orange citrus nose with yeast tones. Dark rusty hue with small floaters and a decent head. Orange, pear malt and yeast flavour with a powerful alcoholic kick.

UPDATED: NOV 21, 2010 33 cL bottle. Had this the first time in 1994 or 1993 at brewery, tour done by Celis himself. This was a cross Europe highschool meetup sponsered by the EC, Netherlands (one brewers daughter and a very pretty intelligent girl I’ll never forget), Belgium (catholic girls class...bad girls :), Denmark and Germany (former DDR) met up for a full week at Alden Biesen for political debate and workshops. Clearly remember this beer, first real love with Belgian beer. The girls in our highschool group where keen on the wit - hence I traded my glass of wit for another glass of Verboden Vrucht. I remember the hearted political conversation with a top Dutch bloke from Maastricht on the way back on the bus, clearly helped by the good beer.

Pours hazy brown with a light brown head. Fruity and slight spiced hoppy aroma with a slight yeasty note. Flavour is slight sweet, fruity and minor spice note. Yeasty spiced finish with a slight edge. Very nice. My first belgian beer ever.

A hazy dark amber beer with a huge light brown head. The aroma is very sweet with notes of coriander and oranges. The flavor is also extremely sweet, almost cloying, with notes of oranges and peach, the end is quite dry and spicy. The mouthfeel is thin, but the alcohol burns slightly in the throat.

UPDATED: JAN 9, 2006 (Bottle 33 cl) Reddish brown beer with a huge and long lasting head. Very full-bodied with a lot of sweetness - a bit much perhaps. Great malty flavours of dried fruits and perhaps a bit vinous in the finish. My version was 9% ABV. 190993

Bottled. Ruby colour, off white head, very cloudy with yeast particles floating around (at least if you pour the bottle as sloppily as I did...) Fruity, but clean with hard mouthfeel, Some grassy hop bitterness. I don't get much out of it...

Dark cloudy amber colour. Tan long lasting head. Lots of yeast in the aroma with some maltiness aswell. Flavor is malty with some hints of hops and some bitterness in the aftertaste. This one is pretty good.

Cloudy amber color, big head. Deep malt aroma, Madeira touch. Good body structure, some malt. Even 2 years after the expiry date it's still quite good.
