aerosol999 (113), Quebec, Canada Apr 12, 2007 Aroma: Candy, sugary sweet aroma. Spicy with plum esters and banana bread. Raisins and low clove phenolic.
Appearance: Light straw gold with big fluffy white Belgian head.
Flavour: Rich sweet malty and spicy. Bready, citrus (distinct orange and lemon zest flavours) light clove phenolic. Warming and reminiscent of fruitcake and gingerbread. Balanced alcohol.
Mouthfeel: light bodied and fluffy. Warming
Overall: Delicious spicy sweet and alcoholic. Not cloying or over spiced. Not one element supercedes the others.
swoopjones (1275), Buffalo, New York, USA Jan 4, 2009 Bottle at Esplanade Bier Market, Toronto. Pours a kind of murky amber brown. Aromas of dried fruits & light tartness. Flavor follows up the aroma with some ripe grapes & winey features. Kind of boozy but overall a decent beer nutpea (11), , New Zealand Dec 19, 2008 Suprisingly easy to drink for its alcohol, very nice beer, flavours that remind me of black grapes, figs and raisins Travlr (427), Washington, Washington DC, USA Dec 19, 2008 Nice label. Dark brew with scant white head. Taste of alcohol and dark fruit. Caramel flavour, malty finish. TheJollyOne (78), Kofu, Japan Dec 18, 2008 Dark caramel body with a tan head and chunky bits of sediment. Smell of sweet sugar and toffee, not overly complex. Sweet toffee again on the tongue, burnt coffee as well, but both are the victim of a strong taste of alcohol. Oily on the palate, quick to finish. Hmmmm an unbalanced beer in my opinion. sdriessen (64), Dunedin, New Zealand Dec 11, 2008 Gorgeous aromas that begin with mild hops and evolve into apple, orange, sweet honey and caramelised banana. A dark orange colour with fine sediment.
Complex flavours, hard to pin down. Sweet hops and rich fruity flavours.. Ripe orange, strawberries, apple, caramelised banana, vanilla. Slightly malty.
Creamy mouthfeel with a sweet fruity finish.
Forbidden Fruit indeed
