COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Verboden Vrucht (Forbidden Fruit) is one of a kind. It is traditionally brewed with a mysterious blend of dark malts and flavored with spices. It underwent a slow second fermentation in the bottle so it matures into a delicious tasting beer with a complex flavor and a wonderful flavor balance between sweet and dry. Keep up this beer in a dark place and pour it at 5-6°C. Flavored with spices.

Alengrin (2351) - BELGIUM - NOV 22, 2014
The descendant of the original Diesters Bier, but in its current form more a kind of witbier-influenced ’massieve ale’. Thinnish, pale beige, relatively quickly opening but nevertheless stable head over a hazy burgundy beer. Aroma of chocolate, cognac, wheat, coriander seed, orange peel, candied dates, raisins, butterscotch, banana, tea, marzipan, aniseed, liquorice, coffee grounds, overripe peach but clear cooked vegetable as well, a bit disturbing and ’unnatural’, but the other aromas almost make up for it. Sweet taste, candi sugar, raisins, banana, finely tingling carbonation, wheaty sourish touch, dried citrus peel and coriander obvious, smooth caramelly malt base, somewhat starch-like mouthfeel, drying finish with some roasted bitterness (coffee and fondant chocolate), leafy ’Euro’ hops, coriander again and some warming, bourbon-like alcohol, a little bit astringent. Far from the best ’massieve ale’ around but not bad at all, especially for an AB InBev product. One of their best products on the Belgian market, I’d argue.

330ml bottle served in a snifter glass. A: Pours a deep amber to brown color with many brown particles floating around. Forms a big bubble tan head when poured. Good retention and many lacings formed and left. A thin layer lasts for long on the top S: Great nose. Sweet, bready and quite spicy. Notes of toffee, caramel malts, dark fruits like plums and raisins. Brown bread, Belgian yeasts, cloves, wheat T: Follows the nose. Sweet caramel malts upfront followed by a quite fruity and spicy taste. Notes of plums and raisins. Earthy and bready yeasts. Notes of wheat and cloves. Extremely Belgian Ale. Final is slightly bitter M: Heavy creamy and a bit molasses body. Medium carbonation. Sweet, bready and slightly bitter aftertaste O: Excellent Dark Ale. I’ve had it many times in the past and I hope that I will have it many time in the future too :) [ BA Review @ 11/25/2012 ]

Bruin bier met mooie schuimkraag. Geur is zurig met tonen van gist en gedroogd fruit. Smaak is complex, zurig, bitter, beetje zoet, gist, gedroogd fruit. Boeiend biertje met een licht bittere nasmaak.

Poured from a bottle, cold. Head dissipates fast. Golden, orangy and bit hazy. Smells bit sour, fruity and spicy, also somehow fresh. Taste is good and in accordance with the aromas, aftertaste is a bit warm. All in all, a very enjoyable beer.

Very spiced. Taste is great but as carbonation was too strong it kills off the potential to enjoy the taste properly.

Een kruidig, fruitig, donker speciaalbier. Lekker in de herfst en in de winter. Verrassende smaak.

Hazy red amber colour. Stable, creamy white foam. Aroma of cherry, raspberry, plum and cinnamon. Medium to full body. Average carbonation. Nice warming finish. A very good beer. Highly underestimated indeed.
