UPDATED: SEP 22, 2011 Hmmmm....who let the Ho’s in my garden???? This beer may attract garden beasts, but if you want the dirty Ho’s rooting around in your "business" I humbly suggest you lay in a supply of Milwaukees’ finest: BLATZ!! That’s how I roll.

A friend of mine labels this his favorite summer beer. I have to agree - it’s great on a warm summer day! Light yellow, hazy with a moderate white head. Aroma is citrus, wheat, yeast, taste likewise, a bit sweet with a slight bitterness at the end. Just right for the type of beer. I can’t really pick out the coriander but I guess if it’s there it doesn’t harm the beer - on the contrary.

Bottle looks very simple. Beer in the glass light, small head. Fruity aroma like lemon. Starts very mild, gets more and more fruity, a bit sourish. Prickly finish, a bit washy. The aromes promises something that the beer cant keep.

Had my first Hoegaarden on tap at a PF Chang’s. By far the best beer in their selection. I’d not tried Hoegaarden before, as I usually prefer the heavier maltier beers over hoppy beers, but this one was an excellent summer beer, and I was really taken with how well it went with the Chinese food, even the hot and sour soup. But the beer seemed to have a bit of sweet and sour mix itself. The first thing I did was pitch the orange slice they put in it. This isn’t Corona, it doesn’t need any help.
I was taken right away with how light a yellow this beer was with a very nice white head, but this is my first time trying a Witbier. It was a touch cloudy and produced a nice lace.
It was hard to get much of a read on aroma, as it was served up in a pilsner glass, but I primarily got fruit and corriander.
The taste was similar to the smell, but I got more hops at the midway point of the drink. The citrusy taste along with the spice and hops made a nice combo.
I’d always avoided the white beers, assuming the would be too light to intrigue me, but Hoegaarden opened my eyes and leaves me willing to try some more Witbiers.

Not as good from a bottle as on tap in Brussels but then, what is? Pours pale cloudy gold with a finger or two of white head. Lemon, coriander, banana, yeast and wheaty goodness.

UPDATED: AUG 9, 2011 Well-carbonated, refreshing, and citrusy wheat beer that lacks the creamy body of the top exemplars of the style. The orange and coriander aftertaste is satisfying enough. If the palate were a bit creamier this would go from very good to great.
