The most noticeable thing about Hoegaarden is the amazingly pale lemon color of the beer. It has an aroma of clove and banana which are also present in the taste, with the spice flavor being more intense and the fruit flavors being more mellowed. A nice bit of carbonation and head, and a reliable beer to come back to.

Tap @ O2 Taphouse & Grill in Edmonton. I asked for craft beer and was greeted with "what is that?" so you can take that for a review of this place. Served in the classic Hoegaarden tumbler with a about an inch and a half of head. The head was slow to recede with little lacing. The color is about the palest yellow I have seen in a beer. The aroma was a bit of wheat with some citrus - mainly oranges. You can also pick out some spice. Fairly faint aroma. The taste is more light citrusy wheat. The orange is apparent again and the spice you pick up on is coriander. There is a touch of sweetness to the beer. The mouthfeel is thin and watery. I’d venture as far as to say a bit creamy. It is has low to medium carbonation which works well for the style. This is a decent summer beer but it is now a bit light on flavor. I seem to remember more character before it was bought out by the big guys. Still decent when you are at a place that only serves Labatt’s products.

UPDATED: MAR 16, 2011 draft@bar: citrus, bitterness with light wheat underneath, coriander very noticeable in aftertaste, very smooth + refreshing, nice everyday beer, love it when it is in a big glass, those are nice /// bottle@bar: not that different from draft really, draft is a bit smoother & bit more balanced, goes down easier

Reviewed from notes. Pours a very cloudy yellow color with a nice white head and quite a bit of lacing. Nose brings forward some citrus and a bit of wheat. The taste is orange, citrus, slight spice, wheat, and a bit of grain. Definitely a fairly light mouthfeel with a bit of creaminess. Drinks fairly well, although not super flavorful. 33cl bottle from Vinmonopolet. It poured a very pale, almost transparent colour with a medium big head. Some carbonation. Aroma is laden with yeast, wheat, bread, but also notes of grass and coriander. Flavour is both bitter and sweet at the same time. The coriander is a lot more present in the flavour than the aroma. Notes of dough and coriander or orange peel. Short aftertaste. A highly drinkable beer and considering how broad the distribution of this beer is I’m amazed I haven’t rated it before.

330 ml. bottle. Pours a white, lasting head, over a hazy yellow (SRM 3) body.....nose is light citrus, bit of coriander, cereal...taste is light citrus, then light sourness, balanced by cereal, finishing light bitterness, with a touch of coriander....mouth feel is light, carbonation high. Light, moderately flavored with spice and citrus, it all makes for a wonderful refreshing summer beer. BJCP 7/3/14/4/7
