Well I found this in January in one of my favorite bars, and I thought, why are you serving this now? Itís bound to be a llittle subdued. I belive all wits should be drunk at their peak, before the spices and citrus have time to decompose. Itís the most available, but not the best.

UPDATED: APR 14, 2006 The ubiquitous witbier. Standard fare, not spectacular but extremely drinkable - a good summer beer.

kepano (247) - Los Angeles, California, USA - JAN 8, 2005
UPDATED: OCT 8, 2005 Tasted in France - bottled. Pours a very opaque and pale yellow with a thin white head. Aroma of grapefruit, pinneaple, apricots, chalk and dust. Smooth yet crisp and refreshing. The flavour is quite mild but it leaves a very distinct citrus aftertaste. Very enjoyable level of carbonation and nice lacing. Delightful to drink.

Bottle: soft aroma, not much to it. somewhat fruity. very unique looking. hazy yellow/white colour. very thin head that doesnt last. tastes like very mild orange. malty aftertaste. slightly carbonated, just right.

Hazy pale yellow with a fluffy thick white head and nice lacing. Yeasty citrus aroma. Sweet with spice and citrus flavors. Very light and lively with carbonation in the mouth, but it doesnt seem thin at all. Possibly the lightest and most refreshing beer I have ever had. Very smooth and easy drinking. Excellent in every respect, even the price!

Why am I rating a summer beer in the middle of the winter? Hoegaarden white is the beer that peaked my interest in Belgian Style Ales. This white beer is the beer is used as my standard for a long time. Rich in orange, coriander and vanilla, pours with a full white foamy head. Best enjoyed on a hot summer day.

GuilTTy (728) - Cherry Hill, New Jersey, USA - JAN 1, 2005
UPDATED: MAY 20, 2005 Hazy straw with a fluffy and yeasty off-white head and medium lacing. Citrus and malty aroma with plenty of yeast and maybe a touch of herbs. Very refreshing flavor with crisp citrus notes and vanilla smoothness. Malts all over the place in the flavor and finish. Not as interesting as most of the artisinal Belgian ales but surely a good choice if youíre looking for a classic Witbier.

Fizzy head that quickly recedes. Aroma is spicy and yeasty, a ton of orange peel in the flavor.

UPDATED: NOV 13, 2007 The aroma is spicy and fruity with wheat and a hint of flowers. Smooth and not too bitter with a hint of citrus. This is a wheat lovers beer. Many other beers that are not bitter are also weak or watery but not this beer.

This is one of the most refreshing beers you can get. Itís hazy (unfiltered)with hints of coriander and citrus. Is a cheap good brew.
