3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
One of my last "accessible" beers to be rated. Poured a murky white (with the yeast) with a tall fizzy white head. Aroma is light citrusy spice. Taste is very well-rounded mild spiciness with sublte fruit undertones. The flavor seemed somewhat less profound than Allagash White, but this beer gets extra points for pure drinkability. Consumed at slightly above refrigerator temperature, it is thirst-quenching and quite satisfying. It’s simply sweet and subtle character makes it an excellent companion to simpler salty richer foods. I drank it alongside a chicken parmigiana dinner and the pairing was near perfect.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: MAR 15, 2005 Hoegaarden pours a sickly clouded yellow colour, lightly carbonated appearance witha minimal brilliant white head. The nose holds the quintessential notes of orange peel and coriander with some citrus anda light spicing beneath, which threaten further interest beyond the standard whitbeer , but provide nothing but a slight metallic edge. Tastes mirror the aromas found originally but also provides light spicing in the refreshing whitbeer finish, the only part of this beer which really proves itself.
A very standard whitbier although it is refreshing , if you have a penchant for this type of beer drink it cool in the summer.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
draft. I had this about a month ago in NYC and absolutly loved it. Probably the best witbier i’ve had to this point. A cloudy yellowish orange pour with a medium white head. Very fruity and citrusy in smell. Also a grassy wheat like smell and very dry on the finish. great beer.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Crisp, refreshing taste, but distinctly alcoholic. Very nice balance of citrus and chocolate tastes. A pleasant beer to be enjoyed on a summer afternoon.

Cloudy yellow pour, with a diminishing head. Mild sweetness up to the finish. Could be stronger.

UPDATED: MAR 13, 2005 Oh my god...this is what it’s all about. Hard to express how unbelievably easily this beer goes down. Little to no aftertase...period. Cloudy body because of its unfiltered state adds to the intrigue. They say, per capita, Belgium is the world’s most unique and varied producer...with a beer like this, it’s not hard to see why. Do try this one.

Hazey yellow colour with a cotton white head. Yeast aroma with hints of orange and lemon. Taste is citrus’y and well blended into a smooth,un-sour, feeling. Sweet with a faint barley taste. very smooth and relaxing.
