Unfiltered Belgian White, flavored with coriander and orange peel, creating a sweet & sour taste.

UPDATED: AUG 25, 2011 Ah hoegaarden. Probably the first wit I ever encountered. Pleasant but I have encountered better wits. +++ This one came in a 12 oz bottle. Now that impressed me as most Belgian beer I encounter comes in an 11.2 oz bottle - so I did appreciate the slightly larger size. It poured the color of weak lemonade. Pretty sickly looking really. There was at least a small white head. The aroma was rather pleasant with reasonably strong citrus, spice an wheat elements. The texture was surprisingly dry. The flavor was nicely wheaty with spice and citrus present as well. The finish was very dry and slightly tart.

UPDATED: DEC 17, 2005 A nice creamy hazy yellow with staying head. Mostly orange and a little coriander in the aroma (duh) with some lemon and a bit of a sharp acidic smell. Flavor is soft and delicate with lots of melon qulalities and many echoes of the aroma. This stuff simply rocks, and I can’t really think of anything more refreshing to drink.

I have had this many times in the past and never rated it for some reason. Anyway- I resampled this on tap at a local bar and it was a lot better than I had remembered from previous tastings. Almost every aspect reminded me of my new favorite wit- victory whirlwind. Very nice cloudy dishwater yellow with a minimal white head which fades. Great spicy and wheaty aroma with lots of phenolic character. Very grassy and bubblegum like with a hint of clove. Flavor is mild yet complex with lots of spices mixing in with the wheat. Maybe a hint of vanilla as well. Good mouthfeel, as it is sweet and exceptionally smooth. This wit is perhaps slightly less carbonated than others like whirlwind but it really tastes great. One of the best mass produced beers in the world.

Lovely beer, the pinnicle of the style. Nice orange bitter and coriander marriage of flavours.

Large white head, body cloudy. It smells like apples and banana. Great beer overall.

Pale yellow body with a good amount of creamy white head. Wheaty lemon aroma. More lemony wheat in taste, with a grassy finish. Flavor is good, but too light.

Pours very turbid pale yellow/off white with a behemoth head. Aroma of citrus, yeast, chardonnay, and hops. Tastes very smooth, with citrus, Niagara white wine, hops, and yeast at the finish.

Had on tap in The Cellar, St.Andrews, Scotland. Strong Wheat. Worth having a couple to discern taste.

12 oz bottle at Steve’s. Benchmark Witbeer Very refreshing on a sunny summer afternoon, but the style is just too light for me. .

Cloudy, pale lemon color in glass, very inviting, with a dense white head that resolves without lace. Citrus and a suprising pine note in the aroma, plus mild yeastiness. Flavor is citrus, pine, apricot, yeast (in that order on the tongue), with apricot at the end and a very faint licorice aftertaste. Strong carbonation, hops character is almost nonexistent. Overall my favorite everyday drinker.
