Claudy cool-yellow beer with an airy creamy white foam. Citrus and banana in the nose, also faint hints of coriander and curacao orangepeel. Touche of dough and yeast in the nose. Light clean taste with touche of wheat and lemon candy. afthertaste is clean, refreshing and a litle too watery.

UPDATED: JUL 13, 2005 Tasted this one years back, but it seems to have been ’mass market’ modernised now, as it didn’t appear to be the same as it once was!. Tasted from the bottle and poured into its own stumpy tumbler. Pours an opaque pale ’wheat’ yellow, with a short dense and creamy head. Aromas of spicy coriander, fell second to a candy sugar sweetness that was cloying prior to even the first sip. In the mouth, a smooth, lightly carbonated, pasty and yeasty palate revealed light citric zest and candy sugar sweetness, cloying and gluggy, with no lactic yeast and wheat hit or spicy balance. Still, all else aside, it is oddly sessionable, though cloyingly sweet and not what I remember it as....

My first taste of Witbier, a very good introduction indeed. A must try, must drink. Cloudy pour, spicy, fruity. Good.

One of my last "accessible" beers to be rated. Poured a murky white (with the yeast) with a tall fizzy white head. Aroma is light citrusy spice. Taste is very well-rounded mild spiciness with sublte fruit undertones. The flavor seemed somewhat less profound than Allagash White, but this beer gets extra points for pure drinkability. Consumed at slightly above refrigerator temperature, it is thirst-quenching and quite satisfying. It’s simply sweet and subtle character makes it an excellent companion to simpler salty richer foods. I drank it alongside a chicken parmigiana dinner and the pairing was near perfect.

UPDATED: MAR 15, 2005 Hoegaarden pours a sickly clouded yellow colour, lightly carbonated appearance witha minimal brilliant white head. The nose holds the quintessential notes of orange peel and coriander with some citrus anda light spicing beneath, which threaten further interest beyond the standard whitbeer , but provide nothing but a slight metallic edge. Tastes mirror the aromas found originally but also provides light spicing in the refreshing whitbeer finish, the only part of this beer which really proves itself. A very standard whitbier although it is refreshing , if you have a penchant for this type of beer drink it cool in the summer.

draft. I had this about a month ago in NYC and absolutly loved it. Probably the best witbier i’ve had to this point. A cloudy yellowish orange pour with a medium white head. Very fruity and citrusy in smell. Also a grassy wheat like smell and very dry on the finish. great beer.

Hint of citrus...mild brew better suited for Summer drinking. Had it at Ned Devines in Milton, Ont. Quality beer overall, goes down real-smooth!!
