Balthi (1), Dübendorf, Switzerland does not count Jul 17, 2008 beautiful color! I love this beer! I saw the brewery, but it was a sunday :-( jkaiser (219), Orlando, Florida, USA Jul 17, 2008 Beautiful color, white beer. No bitterness. Faint taste of orange and corriander. Massive lacing, nice head. If this is the orginal wit bier then consider me drunk. kosko20 (302), Bemidji, Minnesota, USA Jul 17, 2008 Updated: Aug 7, 2008Good beer, but the aroma of it doesn’t make you want to drink it, neither does the appearance. Tastes much better than it smells and looks. Easy downer.
So I have to re-rate. Smell is much better this time around, orange and lemon with hints of wheat and various other citruses. Appearance isn’t much better, murky orange, small white head, not very appealing but not appalling. Flavor is orange and wheat with hints of lemon. Smooth on the palate with no aftertaste. Better this time around because I think the first one was a bad tap and this was a new tap. MoDog (909), Griffith, Indiana, USA Jul 16, 2008 Poured from a 330ml bottle (best by 02/07/09) and served in a tumbler. This beer poured a very faint straw yellow with an even haze and a lasting two-finger thick head of fizzy white foam. Excellent retention and really nice lacing. The aroma of the beer was made up of strong orange peel and clove, lemon, also some fruity banana esthers. The flavor was very wheaty and esthery. Lots of orange peel, coriander, and clove. The mouthfeel was light-bodied and refreshingly crisp. Way too easy to drink, yet quite flavorful. I’m not a huge wit fan, and I wasn’t expecting much...but this was a really pleasant surprise. Brewbie (217), New York, USA Jul 15, 2008 12oz bottle. cloudly light yellow look. light white head. lemon citrus aroma. tasty light lemon taste, easy drinking on a hot summer evening joshwilfong (769), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Jul 14, 2008 hazy pale yellow with little head. little carbonation but some depth to body. mild malt component. best component is complexity of the spices with a nice blend of spice and sourness. has nothing on the grand cru though Borresteijn (1349), Amstelveen, Netherlands Jul 14, 2008 Summer and thirst = drinking a Hoegaarden! Or two.. Cloudy pale yellow with a thick white head. Smell of citrus, some yeast, spices and wheat. Taste is very refreshing, citrus, soft wheat taste, bit coriander. Mouthfeel is prickly and rather thin. From tap somewhat softer and less pronounced spice taste. JohnQPublic (387), Brooklyn, New York, USA Jul 12, 2008 Bottle. Pours cloudy pale yellow with a big fizzy white head. Aroma is lemon, hint of coriander. Flavor is citrus zest, crisp wheat body, and a spicy, somewhat bitter and balancing coriander on the finish. Yeast is somewhat understated for the style, and the mouthfeel is a bit watery at times. Refreshing and light, good beer but only average within the style.
