Hazy extremely pale yellow. Lively carbonation, a thin but lasting head, and excellent lace.
Aroma is light. banana, pepper, lemon,
Flavor is tart lemon, balanced by sweet fruit and a light spicy finish.
Nice summer quencher

UPDATED: FEB 12, 2010 I LOVE this beer. I wasn’t expecting it to be so good, considering how you can find this beer almost anywhere. The coriander and orange peel make for awesome tones of flavor, and aroma. This beer keeps a balance of drinkable refreshing qualities and still manages to be complex and delicious. Try it if you haven’t already!

Not too concerned with the classic standard, but my standard for Belgium white is banana and clove. This one’s got ’em. Not fond of the color, but a nearly perfectly palate-d summer swilling beer.

Bottle - Pale straw color. Has very strong sour citrus flavors with a strong aftertaste. Great summer beer, especially while sitting in the great outdoors.

It’s 1997. I’m in Amsterdam for the first time -- in Europe for the first time. We’re in a hostel and all the other kids there are drinking Hoegaarden. It’s my first introduction to Belgian beer, and saaaay.... it’s pretty tasty. A new and refreshing experience, soon to be eclipsed by darker, stronger stuff at Café Belgique. I really don’t like Witbiers, so I hadn’t had it in years, though I still thought fondly of it. Finally cracked one to revisit and rate, and saaaay... it’s still pretty tasty. Pours hazy light pale golden with generous and fluffy white head. Nose of orange, orange peel, lemons, yeast, and coriander. Similar taste, though a bit thin and a light but lively palate. Very drinkable, but nothing exciting. Watch for it as a gateway drug, though...

For a long time, this one was one of my favorites to drink at the bar. It goes in very smooth, and the little sour taste is something special.

Still the standard by which other wheats are judged .Pale straw in color with a minimal,white head.Citrus and Bubblegum on the nose. Lemony hay that finishes with a sweet pineapple flavor. Still very enjoyable.

330 ml bottle from LCBO, served cold in a tulip glass. BB 04/10/10.
App.: Cloudy bright straw with a decent bright white meringue.
Aroma: Banana esters, lemons, earthy coriander, nice yeast and bread dough, cotton candy or bubblegum esters too, wet hay, a touch of clove and spiciness.
Palate: Medium body, sparse but sharp effervescence.
Flav.: Starts with cardboard unfortunately, earthy and lemony, yeast notes, the esters are there, but subdued, still some wet hay/wheat, the coriander exerts its presence as the beer warms; dry with light bitterness and a pleasant lemony biscuit finish.
As with many ratebeerians, I’ve had this brew often and am finally getting around to rating it. It is nice stuff, particularly in a bar offering mainly pale lagers from A-B InBev.
