| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 30, 2009 Hoegaarden is cloudy and pours a pale yellow color. A delightful foamy head is easily produced when pouring from the bottle. An intense citrus smell greets the senses as a sip is taken. The flavor is also citrusy and sweet with lemon, orange peel and a hint of pineapple. The body is full and creamy. Some fizziness is a welcome element to counter some of the sweetness. Compared to many other commonly available wheat beers, Hoegaarden provides a little extra goodness that is sure to be enjoyed. MrPickles (113), Wisconsin, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jul 27, 2009 I am trying to figure out why this is rated so high. I know this is supposed to be an original, but it seems average at best. Tried this twice, both times from local bars that rotate their stock frequently. Don’t get me wrong it is not a bad beer by any means, but it is not a fantastic beer either. Pours a cloudy, pale golden yellow. Orange, malt, wheat and a slight hop smell to the nose. Initial taste with orange, malt, and plenty of wheat., but there is a strong carbonation that I think takes away from the beer. It is still very drinkable, but don’t rush out to get a 90+ rated beer. Nose is mild spice and orange. Taste is pretty much the same. There’s too much carbonation, which messes with the taste, but while it’s refreshing and crisp, there just isn’t much here. I’d look for something more interesting before I came back here again. Berley31 (185), New Brunswick, Canada
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 21, 2009 On-tap. Poured with a good-sized, white head with not much lacing. Body is a very pale yellow, and extremely cloudy - completely opaque. Great aroma of citrus, coriander, and spices - especially black pepper. Light to medium-bodied on the palate, with soft carbonation. Nice taste of citrus and pepper, with a medium-lasting finish. Overall, one of the classic whites... very nice, but it may actually be a little TOO spicey. mbuisman79 (138), Amsterdam, Netherlands
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 20, 2009 Not as great as people make it out to be. Quite strong, refreshing but not too much. Good beer and it’s good that you can get it all over the world, but there are better white beers around.
