A good Belgian white, and it went down well with Thanksgiving dinner.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pale yellow and hazy with white creamy head. Yeasty aroma with citrus and some pepper. Taste is yeasty and sweet with some acidity. Some drieness in the finish. Could have more character but it's still a good summer beer.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: AUG 21, 2006 Draft. This consistently underwhelms me. Pale yellow, cloudy body. Usually a good sized head on it, this one was less than average. Slightly more watery than usual, but still a very nice mouthfeel. Aroma is of orange and spice (coriander?) I prefer Blanche de Chambly from Unibroue personally. An excellent macro product for sure though, that I tend to order more often than I realise at lesser bars!

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle conditioned. Spicy aroma of earthy coriander and a faint touch of vanilla, phenolic and citrus fruit. Very soft refreshing body with some acidity and a touch of chalkiness. Better the Hoegaarden on tap I’ve had.

UPDATED: JUN 6, 2008 Light, cloudy yellow beer with a very white head. Fruity, slightly smoked aroma, some spice, some lemon. Sweet and easy-to-drink with a hint of tartness.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Very light, a little too thin for my liking. The flavour that is there is nice but there’s not nearly enough of it.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Wheaty with a taste of pineapple. Very good witbier, but 1 or 2 does it. Otherwise it gets to boring.

This is still something of a classic, although seems to have lost a little character since becoming part of the giant Interbrew empire. Perhaps less spices in the mix? Or it it just psychological. Whatever, it is still a zingy refreshing beer and was to become a great standby in days to come in Belgium when palates were becoming a little jaded with powerful sweeter brews and needed some cleansing (water, of course, being out of the question). Draught, Eurostar Rail Terminal, Waterloo, London, September 2003.
