Hoegaarden

Wow. This was extremely surprising to me. As I poured from the bottle, I could smell the citrusy aroma. Nice. Cloudy with a light, thin head. The flavor is perfect and not overpowering at all like I expected. I’m hooked.

This is my go to Wit. Although Pierre Celis is upset with the direction that InBev took this recipe, it’s a solid wit and an fine example of the style.

Brownish-whitish colors mix with some yeasty floaties and a puffy white head. Yeast and lemon zest nose, citrusy. Taste is tart and potent wit taste, spices, coriander help the carbonation bite the tongue with a dryness. While I still think Blue Moon is severely underrated in this category, this is definitely one of the top contenders.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy light golden yellow with a large, pillowy, white head that fades kind of fast. Taste is of citrus, wheat and yeast. Kind of sweet tasting. Aroma is much the same, but not as profound. Not a bad beer to have on a hot day, as it is easy to drink and pretty refreshing. I wish it had a higher alcohol content though.

A very yellow and citrus/sweet beer. Just not my type of beer. I’ve heard good things about it, and I’m sure it’s good for it’s style of beer, but not my type. Nice looking bottle though.
