4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
The Madeira barrels really come through in this beer with a dessert wine sweetness and smoothness. The high alcohol content remains relatively subtle beneath great flavor and crispness.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Sample from bottle. Hazy orange amber, with an off white head. Very yeasty, wood, dates, raisin, candy sugar, and booze. So far, I’m not liking these Dormaal barrel aged beers too much.

Taste is dark fruits, plum, some molasses sugar, vanilla, chocolate, creamy caramel, roasty, lots of booze. Fantastic beer, lots of Madeira notes in it, love the interpretation.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from City Beer. Pours orange amber with a decent beige head and an oak and and alcohol aroma. There is a pleasant strong light malt flavor with a nice sweet wine feel. This bottle is over a year old and I believe it has improved with time.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle shared by Marcus. Pours orange amber with floaties and a transient off-white head. Gushed a bit. Aroma is a suggestion of orange/apple. Then grape and oak. Med body. Flavor is somewhat oxidized and woody, but then it’s sort of heading towards aged sherry. Some light stone fruit, malt and heat come out. It’s all working well together.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle split @ CBC Clerkenwell. Thanks to Kenny for providing yet another hof ten dormaal beer! The pour’s amber with a small head. The nose is strangely salty, earthy. Almost like a tidal pool. More expected notes of cherry, sherry, apricot. The taste is strongly yeasty, sweet. Some leather, cherry compote. Mild funk. Quite drinkable considering the ABV. Light carbonation. Overall, definitely a unique beer. Interesting.
