COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer is comparable with the beer aged in the Armagnac barrels, however the aroma is much more subtle. You can experience a mild alcoholic aroma, with a balanced flavour of vanilla, coming from the wood, and a fresh fruitiness reminiscent of apricot. Tasting this will give you a velvety taste, the honey like sweetness masks the degree of alcohol. The aftertaste is dominated by almond so the comparison with Amaretto isn’t far away. In short, the perfect dessert beer!

The Madeira barrels really come through in this beer with a dessert wine sweetness and smoothness. The high alcohol content remains relatively subtle beneath great flavor and crispness.

Sample from bottle. Hazy orange amber, with an off white head. Very yeasty, wood, dates, raisin, candy sugar, and booze. So far, I’m not liking these Dormaal barrel aged beers too much.

Pours a murky brown color after munchies and has a thin white bubble head. Aroma is red grapes, plum, peach, some sweet molasses malt, caramel, and vanilla from oak. Taste is dark fruits, plum, some molasses sugar, vanilla, chocolate, creamy caramel, roasty, lots of booze. Fantastic beer, lots of Madeira notes in it, love the interpretation.

Bottle from City Beer. Pours orange amber with a decent beige head and an oak and and alcohol aroma. There is a pleasant strong light malt flavor with a nice sweet wine feel. This bottle is over a year old and I believe it has improved with time.

Bottle shared by Marcus. Pours orange amber with floaties and a transient off-white head. Gushed a bit. Aroma is a suggestion of orange/apple. Then grape and oak. Med body. Flavor is somewhat oxidized and woody, but then it’s sort of heading towards aged sherry. Some light stone fruit, malt and heat come out. It’s all working well together.
