"Like you expect from a beer that has matured on an Armagnac barrel, the aroma after pouring out is intense, complex and alcoholic wich can point out the robust character of this special beer. You can smell some caramel and some biscuit odors. These come from the different malts and by fermenting on the wooden barrels. All this can also be found in the taste with some subtle nutty flavours, especially almond. The sweet aftertaste reminds of truffle. Domaine Marquestau provided us the barrels. They contained Armagnac for over 30 years."

Cream-coloured head over copper-amber, at first faintly hazed beer. End of bottle solid yeast. Parsley and other fine garden herbs; delicate caramel nose. Brandy, alcoholsweetness, but also a tad buttery. Bitter finish, rather vegetable. Warming up, warm grain taste. Alcoholheat, very slick, at least medium bodied. Good, if still a tad crude compared to similar foreign tries.

Pours thick syrupy honey amber with a sandy colored head. Aroma brings the aramagnac barrel and syrupy booze. Flavor of the barrel comes forward as well with notes of honey a bit of tang as well.

Draft at Eulogy. Top of an old keg. Cloudy brown pour. Minimal head. Browned amber fruit. Sulfured apricots. Golden prunes and raisins. Well aged. Thinned out quite a bit but still some hop brightness above the desiccated fruit table. Wood tannins. High ABV is felt but moderated by juicy dry caramel undertones. Eminently a strong sippable decadent desert beer.

Bottle @ RBBSG II. Courtesy of Dave. Pours a dull, cloudy light yellow/brown with a small off-white head. The smell is big fruit, caramel apple, booze. The taste follows the nose - smooth and delightful. Mild carbonation, medium body - it is smooth and silky. Really nice stuff.

Bottle from Capone’s. Pours hazy maple syrup colored with minimal head. Nose is oaky spirits, cognacy, raisins, walnut, fig. Tastes complex, with some heat up front, a nice oaky cognac flavor, raisins, nuts, wood, and tobacco. This one was delicious.

Pours a hazy peach/brown. Seems quite carbonated. I can’t place what it taste likes. Sweet. Alcohol warmth afterwards. The barrel is a bit subtle, but not really a negative as I was expecting it due to the low timeframe of aging.

Bottle split @ CBC Clerkenwell. Another thanks to Kenny for yet another Dormaal! The pour’s gold with a small head. The nose full of armagnac, wood. Full, sweet marzipan. Caramel. The taste is more marzipan and caramel. Musty yeast. A bit of tart cherry. Quite sweet, bordering on sickly. Moderately hot finish. Full body, fine carbonation. Overall, despite being sweet as all hell, this isn’t too bad.

Bottle split at Craft Clerko thanks to Kenneth - the 4th from this series for me in less than 60 hours and the least impressive, 08/07/13. Hazy orange amber with a thin off white head which quickly dissipates to spotting. Nose is booze, bitter orange, dark fruit, woody tones, sour apricots. Taste comprises harsh booze, dark fruits, toffee, orange pith, oaky notes. Full bodied, fine carbonation, dry boozey warming alcohol in the finish. Drinkable but glad to be splitting this one with others! Alcohol is just too harsh and not well integrated.
