COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A description of the delicate aroma resembles a journey through a tropical greenhouse, the floral and fruity scents, the taster induced response. Orange blossom, violets and honeysuckle go hand in hand with pear, peach, lime and mango. The complexity is complemented with notes of vanilla and clove and complemented by a notion of lavender. After this fresh bouquet comes the resounding of a pleasant and unexpected surprise. The onset of the beer is sweet and reminiscent of homemade marmalade, to be taken over by the alcohol and a refreshing spiciness consisting hints of fresh sage and anise. It is at this time that the vinous character of the beer reaches its fullness and this puts seemingly effortlessly into the aftertaste, which inevitably seems to be not to think of grapes, which proved that a successful marriage between wine and beer is certainly possible.

200-250 ml pour from the tap at the Kulminator in Antwerp. Clear brown with mahogany hues and a minimal head. Nose is nutty, with notes of vanilla, mild cocoa, Nutella, toffee. Sweetish flavors of caramel, baked fruits, warm spices, low bitterness, malt, ripe cherries and toffee. Full bodied, alcohol well hidden, complex and highly interesting. Great!

Bu en pression en 25 , une couleur dorée trouble et une mousse qui se tient bien mais qui tombe un peu vite. Au nez elle sent le citron et un peu les épices type clou de girofle, en bouche on ne sent presque pas l’alcool.

Bottle 750 ml at home, as Hof Ten Dormaal Blond 2013 - Brew No 10: Sauternes. Into a tulip glass. ABV 12% Pours a deep golden orange beer, mostly clear when hold against the light alsthiugh it seems rather cloudy. Almost two fingers of white head, good density and average retention. Light lacing on the glass. Aroma of sweet peaches, certainly wine notes especially after swirling the beer in the glass, floral notes, a bit of honey. Taste is sweet, very alcoholic, with peaches, ripe mango, honey. Lots of grapes, very vinous, especially on the aftertaste. Really tasty. Medium thin body, way too carbonated. Overall quite nice. In spite of the 12% ABV this goes down as easy as water (almost) but I learned my lesson from yesterday and I’m not gonna finish this bottle tonight.

Bottle, 75cl corked. From trade with Fonefan. A huge, dense, off-white head sits on top of an unclear, orange-colored body. Cute curtains. It’s vinous on the nose, with a faint oak touch, fruityness, alcohol and a light sugar hint. Some spices too. There’s a nice bitterness in the flavor, dealing with the sweetness and fruityness, but I find it a bit boring, and it lacks some of the complexity from the aroma. It’s full-bodied and warming, with a nice carbonation level. Decent bitterness in the end. Overall, too alcoholic, but I sure like the vinous touch. 130508

Corked bottle. Amber colo. Hints of oak and Sauternes wine in the aroma. You can smell the ’noble rotting’. Banana sweeties. Malty sweetish, slightly alcoholic flavor with liquorish vinous notes. Interesting!

Bottle on the Black Country Train Tasting Part I. Pours hazy gold with a strong, white cream head. Big sweet, sugary dough aroma with notes of yeast and orange. Hugely sweet flavor with more sugary dough, light herbs, honey, orange and alcohol. Full bodied with high, massaging carbonation. Warming finish with still more sugary dough, alcohol and honey. Very sweet, quite heavy. A great breakfast beer, to be sure.
