Commercial Description:
The Oktoberfest originated in 1810 in Munich, Germany, as a wedding celebration for the Crown Prince Ludwig of Bavaria. This product was created especially for this event and is brewed usually for the Oktoberfest, now the largest beer festival in the world. Hofbräu München (HB) is one of a selected group of breweries granted the privilege of supplying the Oktoberfest with their products. Using the highest quality ingredients, HB's Oktoberfest Specialty has its own distinctive and unmistakable taste.

Poured a golden/yellow color with a white head that didnt last too long. Aroma had a bit of skunk to it. Also was kind of grainy with a bit of alcohol to the nose. Flavor was malty with just a small bit of hops coming through. Not much lacing. Mouthfeel was a tad thin. Drinkability was ok. Decent beer.

Bottle. Moderate malt aromas of cereal, caramel and light bread, moderate hop notes of herbs, light earth for the yeast, with background notes of brown sugar and wood. Head is small, fizzy white with no lacing and is fully diminishing. Color is sparkling clear dark amber. Flavor starts lighty to moderatley sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes lightly acidic and bitter. Palate is light to medium, watery with a touch of dryness and has a lively carbonation. The color of this beer didn’t say Oktoberfest to me, but the taste sure did.

Off Taps Capital Ale House. Nice malty caramel aroma with some grassy continental hop notes. Can’t see the beer for the ceramic mug. Nice clean malt accentuated flavor. Crisp slightly bitter finish. A tasty beer by all accounts.

12oz bottle: pours a light, straw-yellow with foamy white head. Able to detect some malt in the aroma but it was over-powered by a corn syrup smell. Some nutty malt in the initial flavor but it dulls into nothing more than a macro lager. Not what I expected from an Octoberfest-Marzen style.

(Bottle @ Stag’s Head): Body is a very clear yellow, body, extremely pale yellow. Foamy white head, lasting-ish. Malty aroma, nutty almosct grass-like. Malty taste, nutty, lawn-like. Some fizziness. Not good.

Pours gold into a stein. Bright white head quickly recedes to hug rim. Cookie aromas. Crisp with upfront sweet malts and a dry, hoppy finish.
