Bottle loooks a bit complex, but okay. Beer dark brown, small head. Starts very mild, malty, modest roasty. Light fruity touch. Finish shows some earthy notes, still very mild. Okay!

It’s hazy dark brown with a creamy head, and the aroma is rather mild with notes of caramel but also a little fruit. The flavor has a light/moderate sweetness and notes of roasted malt, caramel, light citrus and the finish is slightly dry.

(bottle) Clear, mahogany colour with a big and beige foamy head. Sweet roasty malty aroma with caramel, burnt elements, bread crusts and a rural touch of pig sty. Sweet and slightly bitter flavour, light to medium bodied, soft carbonation. Roasty malty, minimal sugary with caramel and light hints of chocolate; sweet, slightly sugary and roasty malty finish. Likeable Dunkel. 03.IX.09

Bottle:Clear, chestnut-amber coloured with some ruby sparks with a small - slightly lacing - off-white head; clean deeper malty nose, combined with subtle aromas of barnyard, fruits and roasted malt; mild sweet-bitter flavour, light bodied, smooth; some very light chocolatey influences in the caramelly finish, rounded by a light bitterness. Not too exciting, but very nice....

bottle, bought at the brewery. Brewed to celebrate 500years of Aventinus (Johann Turmair "der Abensberger" who was a Bavarian writer of history and was born at today’s Hofbräuhaus in the cenre of Abensberg). Clear dark mahogany colour, mid-sized beige head. Malty-fruity nose. Malty base with hints of roasetd malts and caramel, shy but very nice hoppy flavours combined with some citrusy hop flavours and a touch of apples. Very nice Dunkel!
