3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 StueyD (812) - Heacham, King’s Lynn, Norfolk, ENGLAND - JUN 5, 2007
A cola brown coloured beer with orange-red flashes and a thickish white head. A strong malty nose, nutty, coffee and chocolate. The taste is bitter, somewhat sour, malty, again, bitter dark chocolate and coffeeflavours, the sourness gives the taste a burnt orange like flavour (Gasthof Neuwirt, Halbergmoos, Germany).
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 JorisPPattyn (7306) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - APR 5, 2007
Huge fine & dense cream-yellow head over red-shot amber-brown beer. Caramel, dark malts and a bit vinous nose (which is rare in German beers). Also an aroma as from ivy leaves. Dry, leafy taste, old but wet brown bread, and a pinch of caramel at the end. Surprisingly little sweetness. Long dry, woody finish. Dry but medium bodied at least. No new aftertaste, finish goes on long enough. Quite good Dunkel. Products from this brewery seem to vary quite a lot, in my (limited) experience.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 ChillCoat (1030) - Concord, California, USA - OCT 2, 2006
Bottle. Dark amber color with an ivory head. Hot, nutty malt aroma. Fruity malt flavor that seems somewhat light for a dunkel. Nice.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 jonas (5041) - Garching b. München, GERMANY - JUN 21, 2002
UPDATED: JAN 17, 2004 Re-rate: Malty roasted and nutty nose.
Red-brown, relatively low carbonation, low creamy head.
Dark fruity malt and chocolate base, hoppy aftertaste - surprisingly it is a bit like a big stout.
Medium body, smooth fine carbonated mouthfeel.
