3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 iowaherkeye (2506) - Ocean Beach, San Diego, California, USA - MAY 25, 2012
Tap at Pizza Port OB. This is a doppel? Clear light to medium amber with a small eggshell head, down to a tattered film pretty quickly. Aroma of sweet light malts with a lightly fruity yeast, and paper. And a yinge of cracker. Flavor is sweet with candied golden raisins, moderate toasty cracker malt, a tinge of paper, light spice and alcohol. Medium body with low carbonation. I see why it isn’t rated amazingly, but I feel it deserves a little higher than my 3.1--I just can’t justify adding a point anywhere.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 nuplastikk (2615) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - APR 23, 2012
Draft at House of Hamburg. Filtered golden-orange, big creamy head. Boho brewhouse aroma, noble hops, yeast. Doughy, peppery, pungent Heller Bock. Smooth, creamy mouthfeel. Sweet, with lots of yeast notes despite the filtration. Very nice on tap, fresh and delicious. Well balanced, classic stuff. Quite a nice beer to have stateside. Delicate. Awesome.

On tap at Global Brew in Edwardsville, IL. Pours a hazy really pale yellow/green with a thin white head. Has a slightly bready aroma. Taste is sweet pale malt, almost floral with a mild hop bitterness. Not especially interesting, but well balanced, tasty and refreshing. Quite good.
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Koelschtrinker (7060) - Köln (Cologne), North Rhine-Westphalia, GERMANY - JUN 13, 2011

On tap at the Biermuseum, Colonia: Amber coloured, mid-sized beige fluffy head; nuts, raisins and dark malt in the nose; quite sweet flavour, a bit sticky, medium to full bodied; shorter sweet-caramelly-bitter finish. Drikable, but not really convincing............
