3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Aroma: Caramel and toast, primarily; a very light spiciness is present. Appearance: Light cola brown with a creamy tan head; the color of this beer is very attractive. Flavor: Matches the nose, but with a little more toast up front; caramel is more dominant toward the finish which has a slightly spicy snap. There is a slight fruity note the longer this lingers in the mouth (apple) Palate: Medium body, creamy texture, very soft carbonation, long finish. Overall: This definitely grew on me, a Dunkel with subtle complexity.

11.2 ounce bottle poured into a brandy snifter. Pours a darker ruby with a velvety beige head of foam. The aroma has notes of toasted bread, toffee, and roast. The taste is sweet and toasty. Very light bodied. Spritzy carbonation. Nice.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours to a huge, frothy head. Settles down to a roasted nut aroma. Just a shade of bitterness inside a dry finish. Could definitely drink all night and I think I might.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
From the 11.2 fl. oz. bottle stamped L-030-M-08:49. The pour is mahogany brown with reddish hues and a slight chill haze. This came out of a green bottle so there is a hint of skunkiness up front on the aroma but then it turns into a malty, lightly nutty aroma. Also mildly sweet. The body is medium to bold and somewhat smooth. The taste is like the nose with a full bodied malty character, a touch of smoke, and low to moderate bitterness. Likable, absolutely likable.

Dobry tradycyjny Monachijski Dunkel. Swietna i gesta piana, i trwala niesamowicie dlugo. Odcien i kolor typowy dla stylu ciemnobursztynowy kolor z bordowymi refleksami. W smaku karmelowe slodowe na koncu lekka goryczkowa koncowka

Aroma is a pleasant roast hazelnut with subtle coffee undertones. Pours a medium brown with a thick beige head. Taste is sweet, nutty with hints coffee and caramel. Finished clean with a slight alcoholic aftertaste, but still very enjoyable.

3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
330 ml. Pour is clear chestnut with a lasting sticky ring and film of foam. Aroma is initially green bottle/light exposure skunkiness. I let the glass breathe a few minutes and actually picked up a nice whiff of toffee, toasted walnut and a hint of cocoa. Flavor is darkish toffee, spicy dark bread, toasted pecan, earthy cocoa, and a touch of bitter woody pith. Medium body starts sweet but ends just in balance with the roasty acidity and light dose of reed-like hops. Medium-high carbonation mostly stays together and smooth in the mouth, adding just a bit of necessary tingle to battle the cloying ability so ominously present in this style. Green bottle stupidity syndrome aside, this is a very good beer.
