Oh, hey, 400th rating for this beer. Draught at the 16th BBF. Brown pour with a light tan head. Sweet malty, nutty, plain, medium body, sticky. Underwhelmed.

sample bottle at azwine 5/8/12.
clear coppery brown with a white head.
smells and tastes like a roastier version of the original...straw, vegetal, sand, pils and floral hops.
dry palate with some bitterness on the finish. 5.5/3/5.5/3/13
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Huhzubendah (2006) - Washington DC, USA - AUG 5, 2012
This beer appears a dark walnut hue with crimson highlights. The head stands in at a half inch, and leaves a fair amount of lacing on the glass. Aromas include toffee and slightly sweetened malt. The flavor brings additional flavors of chocolate and lightly toasted bread, along with an authentic German lager taste. The feel is relatively thin in body, with adequate carbonation. The beer now comes in a green bottle, which I find perplexing, as it was formerly in brown bottles. Fortunately, in this instance, I did not detect any of the skunky, off flavors commonly associated with imported beers in green bottles. Overall, a decent beer.

Lightly sweetish dunkel with some caramel - that’s it.
3.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Mezcalmannen (395) - Oslo, NORWAY - JUL 29, 2012
Brown beer with a tan head. Aromas and flavours are medium to heavy. Plenty of caramel on the nose, malts as well. Mostly sweet taste, but some bitterness for balance.

Pours a dark brown from the bottle with nice frothy, dissipating tan head and good lacing. Aroma of german yeast, corn malts, and slight toffee. Taste is honestly like a pale lager hidden with german yeast. Not sure how I feel about it, but have to give homage to the original dark beer.

Bottle. Full bodied aroma of caramel malts and spicy hops. Clear brown color, with vanishing fluffy off-white head. Flavor was both malty and bitter, with caramel and nut, rounded by clean bitter finish. Very carbonated.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 watson1977 (2360) - The dub c, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 24, 2012
Pours dark mostly clear brown with a medium tan head. Aroma is roasty with some sweet toffee notes...a bit bready/grainy. Flavor follows suit...just enough hop bitterness to cut the sweetness. Mouthfeel is light/medium with a roasty/dry leaves finish.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 marcus (5104) - Sacramento, California, USA - JUL 19, 2012
Bottle from Total Wine, Sacramento. Pours black with a nice beige head and a bready aroma. There is a dry spicy burnt malt flavor that sticks to the palate.

Good German beer. Great aroma, strong flavors of molasses and subtle tones of chocolate. Good intro to a German dunkel.
