COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dark beer existed in Bavaria long before light beer. This was the first type of beer to be brewed at Hofbräuhaus when it was founded. Today, when beer-lovers all over the world talk about dark beer, they usually mean a Munich style beer. Today, Hofbräu Dunkel - the archetypal Bavarian beer - is still as popular as ever. With its alcoholic content of around 5.5% volume and its spicy taste, it’s a refreshing beer that suits all kinds of occasion. A beer in the traditional Munich style!

Poured into a plastic cup at Lantana Oktoberfest. Dark color, small head. Aroma is dark malts, caramel, candy sweetness, bread, and spices. The taste didn’t match the aroma in boldness. Kind of watery and weak flavors. Some maltiness. Medium light body, slight bitter finish.

Dark amber coloured, brownish medium-sized fluffy head, longer lasting; moderate malty nose (traces of caramel, roasted malts, molasses); sweet malty beginning, moderate sweet flavour; quite full bodied; distinctive sweet malty aftertaste, with a tinge of bitterness. A very good Dunkel, pleasant and decent....

Drank from a twelve ounce bottle. Definitely one of my favorite goto beers over the years. Amazing aromas of malts. Nice sweet flavor.
