Commercial Description:
By tradition, the first barrel of Maibock is tapped in the Hofbräuhaus in the last week of April, in time for the merry month of May. The success story of Munich’s oldest bock beer goes back as far as 1614. With its powerfully aromatic flavour and its alcoholic content of some 7.2% volume, Hofbräu Maibock marks one of the high points in the beer-lover’s calendar!

On draught at Brickskeller: Pours to a mostly clear light amber colored body with a small white head. The nose is thick, sweet & chewy sugary malts, grain, dough, as well as some mild nutty/caramel malt scents. The taste showcases the malt: chewy bread, dough, syrupy thick light malts, grains, a bit of light caramel, and just a hint of some yeast. Medium bodied, medium carbonated, finishes thick and chewy with extended sweet malt notes.

$0.99 for a 16.9 oz bottle at Kenny Rd Market. The grainy nose is what I really like about this beer. Thick, heavy sweetness. A great contrast to the many hoppy brews I’m so fond of. I’ll have to go back tomorrow and buy a case.

Can’t go wrong with this one. A bit grainy in the nose, it carries a sweetness like caramel that isn’t bad. Appearance is a deep amber hue. Mouthfeel is full and round. Flavor is fruity and sweet, a bit cloying for me I thought. Overall it’s not a bad bit of brew.

(bottle - 500 ml) Nice copper color with an off-white head at the beginning that fizzes away quickly and doesn’t leave much residue. Aroma of sweet malts, nuts, a touch of hops and some vegetables. Very sweet smelling. The flavor begins with a very malty taste with some notes of caramel, alcohol (which I didn’t know was as high as it is), a good nutty flavor and a light touch of hops at the end. The aftertaste is very sweet with a light hop touch.

22oz bottle pours a nice copper color with a creamy white head. Aromas of sweet caramel malts, nuts, some light german hops and a touch of spice. Flavor is very malty, notes of caramel, a touch of chocolate, some spice, and a little dough.. Palate is medium bodied and smooth to drink. A very balanced and tasty bock.. I really enjoyed this..

Bottle. Just over a pint in total volume. Brownish copper color. Very malty taste but very well balanced and smooth. Great aftertaste and could not taste the alcohol at all. I found this on sale for only a dollar each so I had to get two of them. They were both gone in the same night. I think I may have to go back for some more before they are gone.

Bottle. Really roasted grain aroma that reminds me of walking into the Sixpoint brewery when they are brewing Brownstone. Taste is nice and snappy with a great malt/hop balance. Sweet grains are predominant here. A really nice bock.
