| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 18, 2006 Dark orange body with a thin slightly off white head. The aroma is sweet with caramel and light pears. The taste has some nice roasted nuts with some peanut brittle in the finish. There is also a hint of chocolate. This is a nice sweet change of pace. Slick mouthfeel with a little much on the carbonation. TheBeerOrg (1595), Kentucky, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 8, 2006 Pours dark golden with a foamy tan head. Aroma is bready lager yeast, honey, and caramelized wort. Taste is sweet and bready, with notes of toffee and caramel. A little too sweet and simple. Mouthfeel is medium bodied and sticky with dense carbonation. I’d rather have the Ayinger Maibock. AdamSkillin (376), High Bridge, New Jersey, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 28, 2005 Smells like malty. Looks like a nice light brownish amber color, head manages to leave reminders of itself well into the beer, nice lacing on the sides of the glass. Lagerey, toffee, sweet, malty flavor, lighter on the palate, but doesn’t disappear from the palate for what seems like hours (which is a good thing). A really tasty beer on the lighter side of delicious (I’m a dark beer guy), that I’d be glad to slop down my gullet any day of the week. In fact, a nice beer to chase a shot of whisky, wash down a slice of pizza, or enjoy on its own. jb (1063), Rochester, New York, USA

I guess I am drinking it at the wrong time of year, but it is still enjoyable. An orange beer with tan head. Well carbonated. The head on mine was long lasting. Notes of toffee, caramel, yeast, alcohol. Complex - would probably pick out more of the flavors if I had this a few more times. Good stuff.
Had it again - loved it just as much, noticed nutmeg in the nose, malt in the palate. JoshuaB (428), Detroit, Michigan, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 2, 2005 Pours out a light amber color with mild head. Aroma of malt, hop, grain and some alcohol, but the alcohol was limited. Flavor is kind of watered down, but besides that is rock solid, did notice a bit of the metallic everybody talks about but didnt think it took on too big a showing. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 23, 2005 Poured the color of whiskey, short halflife on the head. Aroma initially comparable to an amber or red: fairly malty. Like others, I noticed a metallic flavor initially, when coldest. Also a bitter flavor like some stouts. These resolved into a smooth malt and hop flavor and by the time I was at the bottom of the glass and the beer was nearly room temp, I tasted hints of clover honey, much like the Hofbrau Munchen Original. Not terrible or undrinkable, but the only reason I’d buy this again is for a gift or hosting a beer tasting.
