Commercial Description:
The Munich Beer Festival, or Oktoberfest, is an event of superlatives - it’s the largest popular festival in the world, staging in the beer metropolis of Munich. Millions of visitors from all over the world flock along every year to enjoy its very special atmosphere. For this occasion, Hofbräu brews a rich, full-bodied beer which goes down ideally with traditional Bavarian cuisine. With its deliciously bitter taste and alcoholic content of 6.3% volume, Hofbräu Oktoberfestbier is as special as the Beer Festival itself.

Bottled. Clear pale golden, dense head. Spicy grassy hops up front. These spicy hops balance out the sweet, buttery malt. Medium bodid with solid malt impact and salty bitterish finish.

Brings me back to stumbling about in Munich. The grain rich nose was the first and most powerful link to my memories of consuming numerous 1 liter mugs of this elixer in 1992. A pleasant surprise at the rip and run today. Goes down smooth and sweet. At least this time I did not end up sleeping under the picnic table during the beer festival. Lightly hopped finish rounds into sweet short-lived mouthfeel. I long for the Oompah band.

Pours golden with a fully receding off-white head. Aroma is clean and bready, lightly metallic, with light malty notes. Taste is malty with cracker breadiness and crisp lager yeastiness. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with full, lively carbonation. Could use a bit more body and rich maltiness.

What the heck? Did I get the wrong beer in my bottle? A pale and fizzy yellow pour. Thin white ring for a head. Taste was honey, grain and some hops. Kind of the opposite of what I consider an Oktoberfest. Not bad on a hot day, but not Oompah band Oktoberfest-y. Tastes like a pale lager.

Honey malt dominates the aroma, with a slight peppery feeling. Pours slightly amber, its pretty blonde, i’d prefer a little richer color in my festbeers. Very smooth and malty, some honey, pepper spices hidding in the background from the german hops, some cereal like flavors as well. I could see myself drinking this beer by the liter!

Bottle-A different looking Oktoberfest beer. The brew was a pale yellow color with a fizzy head. The aroma had some hops, a touch of malt and grains or perhaps corn. The taste was better, it had a more malty taste. The beer was a little thin.

Bottled. pale yellow in colour, bubbly white head, lacing. Mild aroma of hops. A somewhat dry, hoppy flavour, enjoyable.
