The Munich Beer Festival, or Oktoberfest, is an event of superlatives - it’s the largest popular festival in the world, staging in the beer metropolis of Munich. Millions of visitors from all over the world flock along every year to enjoy its very special atmosphere. For this occasion, Hofbräu brews a rich, full-bodied beer which goes down ideally with traditional Bavarian cuisine. With its deliciously bitter taste and alcoholic content of 6.3% volume, Hofbräu Oktoberfestbier is as special as the Beer Festival itself.

Faint malt aroma, okay head. Nice sweet lager flavour with malt notes. Not bad, not great.

Aroma suave e malte bem presente no corpo. Carbonatação média. Parece uma lager. Muito boa.

Appearance: clear straw with one finger of rocky white head, excellent retention and good lacing. (4/5) Aroma: light biscuity pale malt, honey, grassy. (5/10) Taste: mild sweet, very mild bitter. (5/10) Medium-light body, moderate carbonation, crisp finish. (3/5) Yeah, this tastes like the kind of thing you’d drink litres of at the Hofbräuhaus München. While listening to the oompah band. And eating pretzels as big as your head. Not exciting, but authentic. Now I want to go back to the Hofbräuhaus... (12/20)

Bottle. Pours a clear light orange with a quickly fading off white head. Aroma of orange, woody, hint of spice and metallic. Taste is metallic, caramel, copperish finish. Medium to high carbonation, light mouthfeel.

UPDATED: OCT 5, 2015 Not much on the eyes. Pretty pale yellow and with minimal head. Slightly metallic aroma, not the best sign. But fear not, a beautiful malty and strong marzen hides behind its scruffy exterior. Mid to high carbonation followed by a mild sweetness of cereal and malts. At 6.3% abv it’s a stronger festbier and maybe one of the best tasting. Prost!

On tap. A disappointing Oktoberfest. Dark gold color. Light, lager yeast aroma and light malt flavor. It lacks the caramel and malt flavor of better oktoberfest, I imagine this is the type of beer they brew to serve in mass quantities in the tent during the festival. It does have palate at least, and a dry malt finish.

Bottle. Sweet aroma with hints of strawberries/raspberries. Pours golden in colour with a solid frothy white head. Malty with toffee and nutty notes. Full bodied medicinal texture. Sweet finish.

Uma boa breja, leve e refrescante com sua presença de lúpulo e uma quantidade maior de malte

11.2 fl oz green bottle purchased as a single at Cork and Barrel 23rd Street in Lawrence, Kansas. L 167 0 13:40 on the label. The pour is a clear golden yellow with a bunch of fine carbonation bubbles with a foamy one inch white head that is lasting. The aroma is initially skunk, though that clears pretty quick to grain malt. The taste is sweet malt, herbal, floral with some grass towards the back. The palate is light bodied with active carbonation and the sweet malt finish. Not all that different from how I remember the Hofbräu München Original.
