3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
1L on draft at HofBrau Haus during 2007 Oktoberfest tent in Munich.
Pale golden color and nice hoppy notes on finish, but overall not the best that Munich has to offer. Not a beer that I would refuse in the USA, but given the abundance of amazing beers to be had in Munich, this one was lacking. HBH is derided as a tourist trap and you definitely pay for the atmosphere (singing, chanting, the oompah bands, etc.) than the great beer. The American equivalent of this beer/venue experience is a cold bud at Fenway Park on a summer night – it quenches your thirst, tastes fine and enhances the moment, but the atmosphere overrides the quality of the beer.

2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
This was pretty yellow, but it surprisingly had some malt to it, but it was still a little too light for me. It did have somewhat of a hoppy finish to it, but this was very average

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at City Beer Store in SF. Nice-looking bubbly yellow color--though has the same appearance that I trash for the NAILs. So it goes, I’m not pretending to be unbiased.
Aroma of hay, sugar, a little metal, taste of straw, honey, . Mouthfeel is surprisingly thick and long-lasting for the type, very refreshing. Slightly bitter final note with a faint hop finish. Pretty good.

Bright gold pour with a fizzy white head. Metal, caramel, sugar, and grass in the aroma. Butter, wheat, malt, and a slight Heineken hop skunkiness. Good enough.

Bottle. Yellow, orange brew with little to no head. Aroma is of spicy, subtle malts and hops. Flavor is of buttery malts and hops, but has a little peppery feel on the palate. Smooth, but little flavor.
