COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Munich Beer Festival, or Oktoberfest, is an event of superlatives - it’s the largest popular festival in the world, staging in the beer metropolis of Munich. Millions of visitors from all over the world flock along every year to enjoy its very special atmosphere. For this occasion, Hofbräu brews a rich, full-bodied beer which goes down ideally with traditional Bavarian cuisine. With its deliciously bitter taste and alcoholic content of 6.3% volume, Hofbräu Oktoberfestbier is as special as the Beer Festival itself.

I'm a little mixed on this beer. Fairly ample head which disappears at a rapid rate. Slight skunky smell, could be the green bottle. Rather sweet to be in my regular rotation. Nice crisp, golden color which isn't exactly common in most Oktoberfests.

Nice plain bright golden, with a small head that dissipates quickly... lots of rising bubbles throughout. Not impressed with the smell... reminds me of wet or damp planks of wood that have been overtaken by random shrubs or grass. A very earthy scent. Tastes kinda like it smells... earthy and dirty... really does remind me of sampling wet soil. Decent mouthfeel, with a bit too much fizz in the end... but hey, better than being flat. It's OK beer... I was expecting a ton more from this Oktoberfest... but unfortunately, this beer was on vacation while the rest stayed in place on the line.

I had this beer many years ago at the Münchner Oktoberfest 1991 at one time when I was too lazy and stupid to write my thoughts. I will update this as soon as I get my hands on this beer again.

This beer had a bad aroma and was skunky. It didn't sit well in the palate and the more I drank the more the skunkiness dominated any taste that was previously there. Similar to Heineken.

Gold with a big white head. Looks good in a steiner. Aroma is sweet grain and is quite mellow. Flavours are grainy and sweet with spicy hops that are unfortunately short lived. Doesnt taste its alcohol volume and is easy to drink - which I guess is the point of Octoberfest.

Straw hue with good white foamy head and good lace. The aroma is aromatic and noble hops with buttered biscuit, grassy and slightly earthy, and minor citrus. The taste is lightly malty sweet with good balance from bitter hops. A hint of apple and orange in the background. The finish is smooth and acidic. Watery and soft mouthfeel. A good lager but not what I want from a fest bier, too bland.

This starts with a good malty nose and amber colour with thin head. A bit later this tends to be a bit smoky with the eventual taste and malt overtaken by a slight metallic tang. The ABV gets it over the line but it is not a really memorable beer.

I'm probably going to get bratwurst with anthraxkraut in the mail for saying this but other then Lowenbrau this was the worst Oktoberfest bier I had all celebration long. Just loaded with the sharp, grainy unpleasantess that lagers sometimes carry with them. A bit refreshing initially, but that lager-bite permeates every inch of you mouth soon after.

Light, malty aroma, crackery and with touches of honey, caramel and herbal hop spice. Light golden amber color, sparklingly clear, slight head and lacing. Very nicely balanced flavor profile, mingling lightly sweet malts with delicate, herbal and gently floral hop bitterness and flavors. Light-medium bodied, with a smooth and rather thin palate. Very refreshing and understated. One of my new favorite Fest beers, for sure.

Hoppy, chaly ligth nose. Soft carbonation, golden with a little layer of a head. Bitter - very harsh in the beginning, then nice. Medium lasting.
