2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
This starts with a good malty nose and amber colour with thin head. A bit later this tends to be a bit smoky with the eventual taste and malt overtaken by a slight metallic tang. The ABV gets it over the line but it is not a really memorable beer.

I'm probably going to get bratwurst with anthraxkraut in the mail for saying this but other then Lowenbrau this was the worst Oktoberfest bier I had all celebration long. Just loaded with the sharp, grainy unpleasantess that lagers sometimes carry with them. A bit refreshing initially, but that lager-bite permeates every inch of you mouth soon after.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Light, malty aroma, crackery and with touches of honey, caramel and herbal hop spice. Light golden amber color, sparklingly clear, slight head and lacing. Very nicely balanced flavor profile, mingling lightly sweet malts with delicate, herbal and gently floral hop bitterness and flavors. Light-medium bodied, with a smooth and rather thin palate. Very refreshing and understated. One of my new favorite Fest beers, for sure.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Hoppy, chaly ligth nose. Soft carbonation, golden with a little layer of a head. Bitter - very harsh in the beginning, then nice. Medium lasting.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Perhaps I've been hoodwinked and served a Munchen Original -- the appearance, ratings and notes are very similar. First, this isn't a marzen at all -- it's just plain old yellow pilslager. Nice walnut and sunflower seed bread-yeasty aroma. Good flavor for food -- biscuity sweetness, medium-light hopping and emminently drinkable. Solid toasted seed finish and sturdy mouth. Just not my idea of Oktoberfest.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Green-tinged helles canary. Thin persistent layer of white bubbles. Extremely fresh pale malt aroma with a delicate balance of spicy floral hops and sugar cookies. The slight sweetness is greeted by dabs of dough, perfume, and toasted crackers. The mustiness only adds decadency to the pale malts. Staunch, candyish mouthfeel with a soft bed of mineral water. Lightly prickly carbonation. Gorgeous pale malt flavors mix with soft, spicy noble hops. Refined green hop flavors are only enhanced by the malts. Sturdy bitterness keeps the pale malt intensity at bay. Finishes with a touch of evergreen mixed along with lightly toasted pale malts. The malts are crammed with musty, hay-like goodness, and give way to a candied, Chardonnay-like sensation. A superb showcase of how far pale malts can go, when done properly. A pale Märzen indeed, and quite the change of pace.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
A surprisingly light color for this marzen, and a nice fluffy white head. This really looks much more like a pils than an oktoberfest. Hmm...nose is very pilsner "inspired" as well...something strange about this one! Again, the FLAVOR, now, is also very reminiscient of a pils. A little more malt than a pils might feature, but very strange for the marzen style. If it weren't for the comments of others, I might think that a different beer had made it into this bottle!

I couldn't find this either! The label says, or did say, "Hofbrau Oktoberfest." This used to be fairly common in liquor stores in S. California. I haven't seen it in many years. It's been 30 years since I've tried this, but at the time, I thought it was the best beer I ever had!

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Had to beg for help to find this on the site. Medium gold, little head. It does have a hint of honey in the malts, and a bit of hops, with a floral tinge. Not bad, not great.

I too had a very difficult time finding this beer on the site. Nice golden colour to it with lots of hops in the nose and flavour. But, not to different or more special than other oktoberfests.
