COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Munich Beer Festival, or Oktoberfest, is an event of superlatives - it’s the largest popular festival in the world, staging in the beer metropolis of Munich. Millions of visitors from all over the world flock along every year to enjoy its very special atmosphere. For this occasion, Hofbräu brews a rich, full-bodied beer which goes down ideally with traditional Bavarian cuisine. With its deliciously bitter taste and alcoholic content of 6.3% volume, Hofbräu Oktoberfestbier is as special as the Beer Festival itself.

Liked this - malty fusion of different grain flavours. No hop character but solid combination of malt flavours

Clear pale golden-straw, lightly carbonated, 3/4 inch creamy white head, receding at a moderate pace, leaving a little lacing just above the head as it recedes that follows the head down. Pleasant fruity aroma, some bread, some apricot. The label says this is an ale; the mouth feel is what you would expect from an ordinary lager. Mild malty flavor, not sweet at all, little bittering detectable in either the initial taste, the middle, or the finish. The finish is relatively clean, but slightly clinging. An easy-drinking beer that could be enjoyed throughout the evening at an Oktoberfest beer hall, but also a simple beer without much complexity.

From Hipercor. In Bavaria glass. Watching Los Soprano 5x09. All you expect in the style very well executed. Ultradrinkable and malty, with some grassy bitterness. A pity it isnt available all year long.

Keg at The Font, Manchester. A clear pale golden colour with a fizzy white head. Aroma of bready malts, some grain, slight mineral and subtle grassy, herbal hops. Taste of bready malts, grain, some mineral, slight DMS and subtle grassy, herbal hops. Medium bodied and moderate carbonation. A dry, lingering, herbal hop bitterness in the finish. Impressed by the amount of hoppiness in this, very grassy and herbal late on. However it’s very grainy and there’s an off-putting mineral and DMS taste throughout. An average Oktoberfestbier overall.

Aroma is a pretty standard plisner aroma, defintely good, no negative points although nothing special. Appearance on point, decent foam and correct colour. Taste is ok, definitely enough flavour, smooth bitterness. No really fresh hoppy taste. The aftertaste is slighty alcoholic, which I am not looking for in such a beer. Palate is good, nothing stands out. Overall decent beer, not too sweet like Paulaner Oktoberfest, but definitely not special.
