COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Munich Beer Festival, or Oktoberfest, is an event of superlatives - it’s the largest popular festival in the world, staging in the beer metropolis of Munich. Millions of visitors from all over the world flock along every year to enjoy its very special atmosphere. For this occasion, Hofbräu brews a rich, full-bodied beer which goes down ideally with traditional Bavarian cuisine. With its deliciously bitter taste and alcoholic content of 6.3% volume, Hofbräu Oktoberfestbier is as special as the Beer Festival itself.

Average for an Oktoberfest. Less full bodied than other (better made) Oktoberfests, but there is an appeal to this one- lying mostly in the fact that it’s actually made in Germany and sports a cool German label.

On tap. Golden body, with a small white head that leaves a fair lace. Faint malty aroma, along with a faint malty taste, no bitterness. Watery texture, thin body, nice carbonation level. Not very tasty, but dangerously drinkable.

On tap at Joe Canals West Deptford.
Appearance: Crystal clear golden body with a short and thin white head.
Aroma: Shows off hops and Pilsener malt, slightly sweet lemon and hints of floral perfume.
Taste: Crisp and balanced mildly sweet malts with gummy lemon hops, semi-dry finish with slight floral notes.
Palate: Crisp and refreshing.
Overall: Not sure how true to style this is, but it’s very nice to drink, crisp and refreshing. Reminds me more of a pilsener than an Marzen.

Poured from 330ml bottle. Clear yellow with a near white head and good lacing. Aroma of my grain, pale malt, toast and grassy hops. Taste of grass, toast and a touch of fruity hops. Medium/light body and medium/high carbonization. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

DATE TASTED: September 20, 2014... GLASSWARE: Saranac willbecker...OCCASION: PSU/UMass--a Mass-acre to be?... APPEARANCE: hazy golden yellow body akin to a pilsener; steady upward bubbles; quite light for a fest; pale white head laces in tongues... AROMA: highly hopped in Saaz, apparently; besides the ping, some floral hops and grassy notes; not the fest expected... PALATE: active, vibrant and commanding--the aftertaste lingers with sweetness.....TASTE: sweet as a corn and biscuit combo can be; malty to the taste buds, but not as round as it is metallic to the nostrils; some wheat grass ...OVERALL: as Oktoberfests go, a surprise--much lighter and less malty than expected in its finish; perhaps drinking too many American fests has misled my expectations; still, balanced and worthwhile....

From tap in a glass jug. Clear light gold with light fizzy head. Aroma light with notes of grass/hay. Taste equally light with some bitterness, notes of grass and light toast. Refreshing and an ok beer, no more.
