COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Munich Beer Festival, or Oktoberfest, is an event of superlatives - it’s the largest popular festival in the world, staging in the beer metropolis of Munich. Millions of visitors from all over the world flock along every year to enjoy its very special atmosphere. For this occasion, Hofbräu brews a rich, full-bodied beer which goes down ideally with traditional Bavarian cuisine. With its deliciously bitter taste and alcoholic content of 6.3% volume, Hofbräu Oktoberfestbier is as special as the Beer Festival itself.

Hoppy aroma.Golden appearance with good head. I would not call this an Oktoberfest beer. It’s more like a crisp, slightly malty lager. Not worth seeking out.

Pretty sweet and toffeeish, a bit paler than I’d like to see. Almost one-dimensionally sweet - not as much depth as their maibock. Still, an above average full flavored Oktoberfest.

Initially very mellow with good malt taste, but the aftertaste is alcoholic and slightly rough.

Bottle pours a clear pale gold with a thin white head. Rich malty aroma. Taste is bready, sweet, thin, and a bit of fruit. Drinkable but not remarkable.

Bottle @ Mark’s place (from notes). Aroma is earthy and a bit vegetal / Mid palate is very well integrated / Final has a subtle bitterness. Good stuff

Aroma is very light. No head, pale yellow. Taste has a bit of zest, but overall not too interesting. Watery.

11.2oz bottle poured into a shaker. Pours a clear, dark gold with a minimal bit of head. Aroma of skunk, some herbal hops and a little bready yeast. Taste of citrus and floral hops, honey and bread. Medium bodied with a somewhat slick texture. Lively carbonation and a very long finish. Overall, pretty good. I"m suprised how good it tastes compared to the aroma.

From a 330ml bottle on 4/1/2013. Pours a crystal cleat, bright golden with as medium head. Has modest grassy aroma with a hint of citrus. In the mouth, it’s very sweet, with some surprising pear and apricot notes, and lots bready malt. Finishes with a nice, medium herbal hop bitterness. Enjoyed this one more than I expected.

50 cl bottle, 6.3%, 1.25€. Intense gold color, crystal clear with a big white head. Nose is quiet, a hint of hops. Aroma is full of bready malts, a spicy tone and grassy hops. A soft bitternes, still being slightly sweet. Finish is malty, but fairly dry. Tasty! Almost full-bodied for the style, proper carbonation. A classic oktoberfest bier.

Average for an Oktoberfest. Less full bodied than other (better made) Oktoberfests, but there is an appeal to this one- lying mostly in the fact that it’s actually made in Germany and sports a cool German label.
