3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 DrnkMcDermott (2632) - Downers Grove, Illinois, USA - SEP 16, 2003UPDATED: OCT 4, 2004 Draft. Pours very well, with a foamy German type head. Has a nice roasted malt aspect to it, which actually calls to mind a well-made Vienna lager. In other words, this is a pretty okay beer. The texture and mouthfeel come across like a standard American "dark beer," which can get in the way of one's enjoyment.
2004 rating: Color is light as a Hamm's these days, which can also detract. They keep making them lighter in germany to match the lowest common denominator in drinker preferences...
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 hotstuff (3350) - Indiana, USA - JUN 10, 2013
Rated on 9-11-2009 (Bottle) The Appearance is a small off-white head that mostly diminished, transparent body, very little carbonation, and a good amount of lacing. The Aroma is malty and some hints of spice. The Taste mimics the Aroma. The Palate is smooth with a dry finish. This is a light-medium bodied beer. Overall, quaffable, but needs more flavor.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 KansaiBeerLvrs (273) - Kyoto, JAPAN - MAY 24, 2013
1000 yen for a 500ml bottle at Grand Front’s Oktoberfest in Osaka. It poured a clear gold with a thick head of white foam. The aroma was grassy & a bit malty. The flavor was a nice crisp bitter large type beer, refreshing with a hint of hay. I’m not really much of a lager drinker but this was decent and you wouldn’t guess it was 6.3%!
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Rob_D_UK (229) - Surrey, ENGLAND - MAY 7, 2013
Pretty sweet and toffeeish, a bit paler than I’d like to see. Almost one-dimensionally sweet - not as much depth as their maibock. Still, an above average full flavored Oktoberfest.

Initially very mellow with good malt taste, but the aftertaste is alcoholic and slightly rough.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 flylikeabanana (166) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - APR 7, 2013
Bottle pours a clear pale gold with a thin white head. Rich malty aroma. Taste is bready, sweet, thin, and a bit of fruit. Drinkable but not remarkable.

Bottle @ Mark’s place (from notes). Aroma is earthy and a bit vegetal / Mid palate is very well integrated / Final has a subtle bitterness. Good stuff

Aroma is very light. No head, pale yellow. Taste has a bit of zest, but overall not too interesting. Watery.

11.2oz bottle poured into a shaker. Pours a clear, dark gold with a minimal bit of head. Aroma of skunk, some herbal hops and a little bready yeast. Taste of citrus and floral hops, honey and bread. Medium bodied with a somewhat slick texture. Lively carbonation and a very long finish. Overall, pretty good. I"m suprised how good it tastes compared to the aroma.

From a 330ml bottle on 4/1/2013. Pours a crystal cleat, bright golden with as medium head. Has modest grassy aroma with a hint of citrus. In the mouth, it’s very sweet, with some surprising pear and apricot notes, and lots bready malt. Finishes with a nice, medium herbal hop bitterness. Enjoyed this one more than I expected.
