UPDATED: JUL 1, 2004 The smell at first was a little bit stronger than I like, but then again, some people like stronger smelling beers. The effect wore off after a while. The head was reasonable, but somewhat light and fluffy. The taste is (not being a beer freak) only a little bitter and I can’t comment on the fruity or chocolaty or whatever tastes that more seasoned reviewers can, so I won’t even try to. I quite like the mouthfeel.

Rather boring and average. Metallic flavour and finish. Dry and carbonated aftertaste.

Golden coloured. Malty, sweet and round with a grassy and bitter finish. A nice classic.

29 June 2004 - Simplistic hops and light malt, sweet light fruit aroma. Golden pale yellow colour with a low-low white head that last a second and suda lacing. Low spice taste with some sweet light simplistic malt. Slight sweet bitter finish, thin flatish beer.

UPDATED: JUN 25, 2004 2003 bottle. Pours a thick medium-yellow with some pale gold tinges and a decent sized foamy white head. Smells of sharp, lightly bitter hops, crisp mint, pear and apple. Flavor is malty sweet right away (honey, apple juice, sugar cookie dough) but gains balance with a tart/bitter hops presence. Mouthfeel is fizzy but clean. Body is medium with a pretty short finish of more apples, honey and pear.

UPDATED: JUN 15, 2004 Lighter and less characterful than my favorite helles beers, so a bit of a disappointment. Pale gold, attractive webbed head. Musty and dusty aroma followed by thickish sweet malts and very light herbal hops.

UPDATED: MAY 8, 2005 Bottle. Light aroma. Taste only slightly bitter. Higher carbonation than the average German beer. Not a strong flavor at all. Okay but rather bland. However a liter from tap at the original Hofbraeuhaus in Munich should not be missed - rating goes up to an 18/20.

White weak head. Golden color. Aroma is malty, sweet with grainy and herbal notes. Flavor is moderately sweet with cereal tones, ending in a moderately bitter, hoppy finish. Light bodied.

My first of the style, I believe. Little aroma and head, thinner body. Sadly, I have little memory of how this one tasted. Average, I suppose.
